Wells Fargo is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer.
In this role, you will:
- Participate in complex technical issues and initiatives related to large scale applications, systems, databases, or other technical products and services
- Identify opportunity for process improvements within technical support strategies and plans
- Review and analyze technical queries to extract data, create standard databases, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supporting low to medium risk technical deliverables
- Present recommendations for resolving complex technical queries
- Exercise some independent judgment to analyze performance trends and recommend process improvements while developing understanding of technical process controls or standards
- Work as an internal consultant regarding use of tools and processes
- Provide information related to supported system area to functional colleagues, internal partners and stakeholders, including internal customers
- 2+ years of Systems Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 2-4 years of experience in data analysis and leadership reporting, including the ability to transform operational data into actionable insights.
- 2+ years of experience with Python programming, focused on data processing, automation, scripting, and system operations workflows.
- Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools, preferably SSIS, including designing and maintaining automated data pipelines.
- Experience with automation and orchestration technologies (e.g., PowerShell, Python-based tools, scheduled job automation, workflow orchestrators).
- 4+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
- 1+ year of experience working within a structured project methodology, with the ability to create and maintain project plans, track risks/issues, facilitate stakeholder discussions, and escalate concerns to leadership when necessary.
- 1+ year of experience in process flow engineering, including creating detailed process flow diagrams and translating business/technical requirements into operational workflows.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and process implementations simultaneously in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, IT leadership, cross-functional teams, and vendor partners.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent), including writing complex queries and optimizing database operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing critical escalations, including coordination with senior leadership teams such as CIOs and CTOs.
- Lead and coordinate patching activities across multiple products and lines of business, including planning, testing, and deployment of patches and upgrades.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) by identifying process gaps, reviewing existing standards, and recommending best-practice approaches to optimize patching and vulnerability management operations,

- Collaborate effectively with planners, application teams, and application owners to schedule and coordinate urgent, emergency, and high-priority patch events.
- Compile and maintain vulnerability metrics across daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cycles, providing visibility into affected, non-compliant, and remediated assets.
- Analyze vendor-provided fixes for known issues, engage vendors or competency teams when needed, and ensure timely resolution of patch conflicts or failures.
- Evaluate, investigate, and support remediation of security risks and incidents, including assisting with exception governance processes.
- Engage proactively with IT Infrastructure partners on both strategic and tactical patch planning to reduce exposure to vulnerabilities.
- Review and validate vulnerability scan results, determining whether findings are legitimate risks or false positives based on OS, middleware, or application configurations.
- Communicate expected impacts and remediation details with Subject Matter Experts to ensure alignment and minimize operational disruption.
- Maintain strong understanding of ServiceNow processes, especially around assignment groups, ownership transitions, and workflow management for vulnerability and patch tickets.
