Join Nova's Modelling Team as part of the Land Program within our Professional Services & Advisory business unit, delivering engineering workforce support across Defence and Prime Systems Integrators. The Modelling Team delivers advanced capability development through leading-edge digital engineering. By integrating tools like Cameo, Modelpedia, Holocentric and NetViz, we provide Defence with powerful insights, clearer decision-making, and mission-ready outcomes.

About the role:

We are now seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support professional engineering systems engineering activity with our team in Canberra. 

• Deliver digital engineering and modelling solutions to support Defence capability development and informed decision-making. 

• Develop and maintain system models using tools such as Cameo to create a single source of truth for complex systems. 

• Analyse system performance, risks, and dependencies through modelling and simulation techniques. 

• Integrate tools such as Modelpedia, Holocentric and NetViz to generate actionable insights and visualisations. 

• Collaborate with engineering teams and Defence stakeholders to translate requirements into model-based solutions and mission-ready outcomes.

• Apply professional engineering judgement to solve complex, real‑world capability challenges

• Support delivery of engineering outcomes within regulated, safety‑critical environments

What we would like from you:

• Degree qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline

• Demonstrated experience in digital engineering, systems modelling, or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within complex environments like Defence

• Hands-on experience or a strong interest in developing experience in using modelling tools such as Cameo (or similar MBSE platforms), with exposure to integrated toolsets and data-driven environments.

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, system architectures, and verification & validation.

• Proven ability to analyse complex systems, interpret data, and translate insights into clear, actionable outcomes for stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams 

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to work in structured, regulated or safety‑critical environments

• High attention to detail and commitment to professional engineering standards

• Willingness to operate in client‑facing consulting roles and adapt to different project environments
