The Opportunity:
UCT IT is seeking to fill a Systems Engineer II vacancy. The Systems Engineer II researches, implements, operates, and secures systems that support enterprise infrastructure and information security. This role performs system architecture and design, system administration, and system security — building and maintaining servers and integrating departmental systems to meet business requirements.
Responsibilities:
System Architecture
Designs and architects systems and applications that support enterprise infrastructure and information security.
Performs architecture and design of new systems and applications.
Gathers business requirements and plans the implementation of institution’s applications and infrastructure.
Supports product evaluation and qualification of new technology and methodology to make recommendations.
System Engineering
Builds and maintains the department’s applications and infrastructure to meet business requirements and secure standard operating system software.
Monitors systems and applications for performance and uptime and makes configuration changes to achieve service level targets.
Supports secure configurations as appropriate for systems and applications, including file transfer processes (SFTP, SSL) and web server configuration and operations.
Maintains day to day operations and security updates of systems and applications.
Administrative
Supports unit governance and documentation.
Provides input on new policies and standards within operating units.
Creates and maintains up-to-date documentation on system configuration.
Quality Assurance
Oversees quality assurance review for all server-related deployments and documentation of team procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure, systems, and applications.
Knowledge of information security principles, secure system configuration standards, and vulnerability remediation practices.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $80,648. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
