About the role
As a Systems Engineer at Vantor, you play a central role in defining, designing, and validating software and hardware systems, software products, and geospatial data products. Your mission is to ensure that our systems meet stakeholder needs, operate reliably in their intended environments, and maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and correctness throughout their lifecycle.
In this role, you are part of the Engineering organization and collaborate closely with Software developers, Architects, R&D, Product Management, and other stakeholders. You act as a key link between business needs and technical execution, translating stakeholder requirements into clear system behaviors, architectures, interfaces, and data specifications. You are responsible for ensuring the technical integrity and verification readiness of systems and products, while driving alignment across teams and contributing to well-informed technical decisions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Eliciting, refining, and managing system and data requirements across teams and organizations
- Defining system architecture, interfaces, and operational behaviors
- Specifying and validating geospatial data products to ensure consistency, accuracy, and correctness
- Supporting system integration planning and coordinating technical decisions
- Conducting technical reviews and ensuring corrective actions when needed
- Monitoring system and product quality, including data validation
- Identifying and assessing risks, dependencies, and technical trade-offs
- Driving alignment by proposing solutions and challenging unclear or conflicting requirements
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who combines strong systems thinking with clear communication and a collaborative mindset. You are comfortable navigating complex environments, working across organizational boundaries, and translating stakeholder needs into robust technical solutions.
You have a strong customer-oriented perspective and understand how systems and data are used in real operational contexts. You are proactive in identifying risks, evaluating alternatives, and driving alignment to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Minimum requirements:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Geospatial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Several (~3–5 or more) years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or a similar role
- Strong understanding of system behavior, architecture, interfaces, and constraints
- Experience in requirements engineering and system-level documentation
- Familiarity with development, integration, and verification practices
- Fluency in English, both oral and written
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with geospatial data, including data modeling and data quality validation
- Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and make informed trade-offs
- Understanding of operational workflows and real-world system usage
- Experience collaborating across teams and organizations in complex environments
- Experience supporting integration efforts and coordinating technical decisions
- Experience working in an agile development environment
The role will be based at our office in Linköping, with the possibility of part-time hybrid work.
Some positions at Vantor involve work with classified information where you are required to complete and be approved in a security check by a Swedish authority.
