As a Systems Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
The individual selected for this role will be working to a specific set of documentation rules and guidelines which may involve additional research to verify technical content. They will participate in modifying and providing input to policies and procedures that govern CM-related processes, collaborate with stakeholders to identify and pursue CM process improvements, as related to spec preparation. In addition, they professionally interface with customers, functional/integrated product teams, and others to troubleshoot and seek for solutions required to mature and deliver the specification products.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Focused on the specification preparation function for Science and Engineering ensure specifications are created and maintained consistent to the high level of quality our customers and internal standards expect.
- Specifications comprise requirements/customer need definition to define design space constraints that will be used for downstream verification.
- The systems engineer will be involved with all specifications used in the design solution including but not limited to item/product specifications, material specifications, process specifications and system specifications.
- Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Broad understanding of CM principles, methods, and product lifecycles.
- Working knowledge and understanding of system engineering and engineering documentation.
- Understanding of requirements and verification origin, structure and flow down.
- Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture.
- Understands or can determine overall impact of requirements management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with interpersonal savvy with a focus in collaboration and conflict management.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently. Interface with DEs, MEs, PEs, and other System Eng.
- Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate technical content for cohesiveness and completeness.

Preferred Qualifications:
- An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- Technical (aerospace) background is preferred
- CMII certification is preferred
- Strong technical writing and editing skills to express written requirements in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work in an often fast-paced environment to meet aggressive schedule due dates while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
- Solid skill level in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge or demonstrated experience using PLM, MBSE, MRP, or similar software.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
