BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently seeking a dynamic, results-oriented professional to join our Systems Engineering team as a Systems Development Lead (SYDL) at our technical development site in Luxembourg.
This opportunity is offered as a contingent worker assignment through a staffing agency until the end of June 2027.
The SYDL is part of a project’s Systems Engineering team and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking all development activities within Systems Engineering. The SYDL is a member of the technical project core team and reports directly to the System Project Lead (Technical Project Manager). The SYDL is the primary interface to the customer, project stakeholders, and the team for all Systems Engineering-related activities.

Task & Responsiblities: 

  • Overall responsibility for the on-time delivery of Systems Engineering work packages, from customer needs through system release.  
  • Plan, maintain, and manage the detailed system development plan, including work packages, responsibilities, dependencies, due dates, and milestones.  
  • Define and manage product and release scope, and align features, change requests, and defects with customers, project management, and engineering disciplines.  
  • Ensure release and milestone readiness through transparent progress tracking, reliable status reporting, and early escalation of schedule, scope, quality, and resource risks.  
  • Plan the required engineering effort, balance capacity and demand, and prioritize tasks within the Systems Engineering team across releases and sprints.  
  • Serve as the central technical interface to customers, the System Project Lead, Software Development Lead, Hardware Development Lead, Test, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders.  
  • Manage the development and maturity of stakeholder and system requirements, including quality, prioritization, allocation, and end-to-end traceability.  
  • Ensure that system requirements and architectural specifications are consistently implemented, integrated, and verified in software, hardware, and testing.  
  • Coordinate system baselines, configuration status, release packages, and release notes, and ensure fulfillment of agreed release criteria.  
  • Actively manage risks, issues, and changes, including technical impact assessments, tracking of corrective actions, and support for defect management.  
  • Provide functional leadership to the system project team through planning meetings, reviews, decision facilitation, coaching of functional owners, and continuous improvement of effective engineering processes.  
  • Represent Systems Engineering status in customer reviews, scope and release reviews, Change Control Boards (CCBs), and technical project and milestone decisions.  
  • Promote team-oriented collaboration and provide technical support in selecting optimal solutions.  

 

Your Profile: 

  • University degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, electronics, or a comparable field.  
  • At least five years of professional experience in automotive electronics, e-mobility, or a comparable environment.  
  • Initial experience in the technical leadership of teams or projects.  
  • Solid knowledge of automotive electronic control unit (ECU) development, ideally in the field of high-voltage inverters.  
  • Good knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and guidelines, combined with a strong process-oriented mindset.  
  • Good knowledge of project management and relevant tools, such as Microsoft Project.  
  • Experience with requirements management tools, such as Polarion or DOORS.  
  • Experience with task and ticket management tools, such as JIRA or IBM Rational RTC.  
  • Knowledge of relevant automotive standards, such as ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE, or comparable standards.  
  • Ability to efficiently resolve complex technical challenges in time-critical environments.  
  • Strong communication skills and intercultural competence.  
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German.
