Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:

• Work within an Agile team, delivering Digital Products
• In charge of one or more systems. Identifies areas for improvement / enhancement on existing system/s and on new ones being developed
• Determines, analyzes, and transforms business requirements to produce design specifications at the system and programming levels
• Conducts capacity planning and performance tuning on supported applications as required
• Ability to perform more complex systems designs
• Ability to begin to lead small teams of developers
• Leverage on AWS platform and cloud services to host frontend web server
• Ability to create touchpoints (mobile apps /portals) that have a single build regardless of the device and across the different businesses (Multi-platform / Single Code base)
• Develops or maintains; tests, implement and documents programs according to program specifications and Sun Life standards
• Identifies all possible test scenarios and prepares tests for the systems under development
• Executes test plan during development and system testing and provides user acceptance testing or other testing as required to ensure that system processing reflects user requirements / designs
• Provides post-implementation and production support for systems including analysis of production problems
• Performs implementation activities such as program promotions, installation of the system, training and tutorial for end users
• Performs development/update of the Users Manual, Systems Manual and Operations Manual
• Provides updates and status reports to the project manager during the course of a development and related support activities
• Collaborates with the architects, business system analyst, software engineers, developers and testers to create the optimal User Experience.
• Identifies areas for improvement / enhancement on existing and new systems to support different initiatives of the company.
• Identifies possible improvements in the business processes to reduce manual work and overhead, as well as improve overall turnaround time of business processes.
• Leads and manages developers into achieving the desired systems projects following agreed standards and timetable.
• Communicates with the developers for clarification of technical requirements, testing, and reporting of errors found in the systems being supported.
• Identifies all possible test scenarios and prepares the test plan for the systems under development.
• Provides post-implementation and production support for supported systems including analysis of production problems raised by business users.
• Conducts systems training for the business community as needed.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Minimum of 4 to 5 years software delivery/development (with ground-up project experience preffered)
• Proficiency on the following programming languages and/or frameworks
  • Backend: Java
  • Frontend: Angular or React JS
• Solid understanding on APIs, web services, microservice architecture and databases
• Experience in AWS Cloud platform, DevSecOps Tools (CI/CD) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes & EKS)
• Experience on crafting and providing solutions (problem solving for simple to intermediate projects)
• Proven leadership experience managing developers and mentoring technical teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Broad set of technical skills able to support backend and frontend development (FullStack), preferably with Micro-frontend, Micro-services and AWS Cloud experience
• Experience with Banking, Financial and Insurance products will be considered as a plus
• Experience in working as part of Agile teams
• Must have strong logical analysis skills preferably with systems design background and skills in programming under one programming language.
• Possesses good oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills, must be very client oriented.
• With high stress tolerance and capable of dealing with all levels of management.
• Willing to work on weekends and holidays if necessary
