Department OverviewThe Krakow PCR (Professional and Commercial Radio) department is responsible for delivering software for mission-critical and business-critical communications for public safety, humanitarian solutions, manufacturing, retail, logistics and many other verticals. Our team follows industry-standard and innovative software development practices such as continuous integration, continuous deployment, component and system-level testing. We use Agile methodologies to organize our work ranging from cross-functional small teams to Agile portfolio management. As owners, we are responsible for the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including specification and design, implementation, system level testing, delivery and maintenance.
Job Description

The responsibilities of the System Test Engineer (with programming) position include an active role in systems integration, analysis of requirements, designing and executing system test scenarios, system acceptance testing and final system certification to cover system-level requirements. This also includes support for a variety of system engineering projects. In this position the System Test Engineer works with our telecommunications products and IT networks, upgrades existing systems, performs root cause analysis to identify system design issues, validates solutions to complex problems and also cooperates with the automation test team. 

Once the System Test Engineer gains products knowledge, becomes independent and comfortable with the above tasks she/he progresses towards automated testing role (which includes responsibilities as: creation and maintenance of the continuous integration and validation environments, as well as coding, maintaining and executing the system and subsystem test scenarios, creating, running and enhancing the automation tests framework, design automation test scripts, automated test execution).

 The person hired for this position will be working with an experienced team that is fully located in Motorola Solutions in Poland/Cracow. Having full local access to the state of the art labs in the Cracow location, all equipment and systems needed to perform tasks 


Basic Requirements

  • Experience in systems integrations or willingness to learn 

  • Knowledge of testing methodologies

  • Good analytical skills,

  • Troubleshooting and problems solving skills,

  • Basic knowledge of IP networks, basics of computer networks design and configuration

  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and Linux, 

  • Basics of Java, Python.

  • Basics of Groovy, Jenkins

  • Willingness to develop towards test automation

  • Experience for ability to learn and work in Agile/Scrum,

  • Basic knowledge of virtualization - i.e. KVM 

  • Focus on quality and attention to details,

  • Good communication skills to work efficiently with multiple Scrum teams,

  • English language skills at a level allowing efficient communication,

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, Automation and Robotics, Information and Communications technologies or any related fields.

Optional/nice to have skills, any from the below listed: 

  • Radio Interfaces (RF) knowledge,

  • Basic DMR standard knowledge, PMR experience, 

  • Knowledge of Signalling for any other standards (GSM, UMTS, LTE )

  • ISTQB certificate

  • Any of programming certificates
