Position Summary:
Ensures and maintains reliability, integrity, and functionality of all test systems within assigned lab discipline across all laboratory sites. Evaluates and coordinates activities with vendors and implements procedures for test methodology, specimen handling and instrumentation. Ensures compliance with the standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies. Designs, monitors, and directs staff in quality assurance systems including quality control, test utilization, and proficiency testing. Participates in and leads HealthPartners hospital and ambulatory technical teams and committees as appropriate.
Lead technical excellence across Anatomic Pathology. This high impact role is perfect for an experienced histotechnician/histotechnologist with deep IHC expertise who desires the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert, mentor, and quality champion. You will ensure accurate, consistent routine histology and IHC processes to support patient care. You will own key quality systems, lead/support validations and assay optimization, and act as a trusted technical resource across the system Anatomic Pathology team. Using your expertise, you will partner closely with pathologists and laboratory leaders to strengthen best practices and inspection readiness, and influence decisions that support our histology team and patient experience.
Required Qualifications:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Cytology or a related healthcare field OR Associate’s Degree in Histotechnology.
- Three years’ operational laboratory experience required in specialty.
- Previous technical leadership experience
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- American Society of Clinical Pathology in specialty, if offered (ASCP or ASCPi).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient with laboratory information management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and proven leadership qualities.
- Demonstrates comfort interacting with customers and providers of various educational backgrounds.
- Ability to analyze workflows, develop plans, and implement appropriate actions.
- Exhibits a high degree of organization, with proven attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Possesses effective problem-solving skills.
