Job Description

As the leader of the Premium Audio System Team , you will lead a team of senior and principal SW and HW System engineers responsible for the translation of Product and Experience User Needs and Platforms into detailed system and sub-system requirements, specifications, and architecture.  This team drives the overall technical approach and are the technical leaders for cross-functional HW and SW development teams.  In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving best-outcome tradeoffs across competing business, customer, and technical approaches to deliver market leading noise cancelling headphones, earbuds, speakers, soundbars, etc.  You will work side by side with talented engineering functional leaders to drive a culture that values innovation, world-class engineering, and creating amazing customer experiences.  Your team will be the primary technical leaders for new Premium product and experience development teams, and accountable for the technical performance and integrity of these class-leading products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sets the overall standard for the System Team orchestrating the delivery of products and major SW features.
  • Leads and manages a team of very senior and experienced System engineers in support of Premium Audio business.
  • Build and develop the new HW+SW System Engineer role and associated responsibilities, guided by the company’s product strategy, portfolio, and long-range vision.
  • Provides critical thinking and problem solving oversight and coaching to the team.
  • Blocking-and-tackling, as needed, to enable development team success.  Removes roadblocks, escalates and resolves blocking, non-project/program issues across the business.
  • Work closely with other functional directors & managers to staff and support the active, prioritized Product and SW Experience portfolio.
  • Maintain and evolve the capability and capacity of System Engineer team to meet business needs within budget and business constraints.
  • Stakeholder for System Design Review process and Accountable for quality of deliverables to SDR.
  • Identifies, leads, and/or participates in process and work improvement charters and efforts.
  • Is a change agent, driven to continuously improve our ability to deliver world class experiences for our customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering discipline required, MS preferred
  • 10+ years experience developing HW + SW products, preferably in consumer electronics or similar product segment
  • Experience leading and developing a technical staff
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams (SW, EE, ME, Mfg, ID, etc.)
  • Experience translating user and business needs & requirements into system specifications and architectural approaches

Hardware = Electro, Mechanical, Acoustical Products

Software = Embedded, Firmware, Low-Level SW

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience developing embedded SW as well as physical products, preferably in consumer electronics or similar product segment
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Classic Systems Engineering fundamentals to architect and deliver complex HW+SW systems
  • Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex and/or loosely-bounded problems, both technical and organizational/procedural, into solvable components or structure
  • Experience managing teams to a budget, as well as a thorough understanding of new product business plans and financial analyses. Business acumen strongly desired
