Raye IT Consulting is looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support a federal client within the Washington, D.C. area. A successful candidate will not only enjoy solving user issues but also integrating new technologies. Key attributes include network engineering, architecture and design experience, service metric and KPI reporting, strong documentation skills, interpersonal awareness, and proactivity.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and maintain the client network by helping to troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks.
• Interfacing with customers and government representatives on network issues that are varied and range from simple to complex.
• Perform systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks. Desktop system management responsibilities involve account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS) installation, and other local area system administration-related functions.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and processes related to these systems
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, etc.
• Provide technical documents such as network diagrams, device configurations, change and configuration management documents, implementation plans, release readiness checklists and sequencing plans.
• Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and regulatory requirements.
• Documents specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results
• Implement solutions based on recommendations from network impact assessments
• Install/load the operating system and application software for users
• Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other related technical degree
• 3-5 years of experience as a senior network engineer leading the design, development and implementation of complex network solutions, leading large-scale projects involving stakeholders
• Strong experience with working with WAN/LAN systems, networking technologies and protocols, and network and security principles
• Experience with virtualization product design, engineering, maintenance, and support (for example: Azure, Amazon, VMware, or Hyper-V)
• Experience with network protocols such as VLAN, VRF, and NAC (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects
• Ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities
• Proven ability to apply clear critical thinking in complex, stressful situations
