Job Description

Summary:

As a System Engineer in the Premium Consumer Systems Engineering & Architecture team, you will lead the architecture, design, and technical execution of consumer electronics products that contain a high degree of system complexity using Platforms.  This is a high impact role for an experienced senior engineer who will own the design of new Bose Premium Consumer products through translating Product Requirements and User Needs into system requirements, selecting appropriate architectures and components, and evaluating real-world system performance.

This role leads the overall technical approach for a cross-functional HW + SW development team, assuring best-outcome tradeoffs across competing business, customer, and technical challenges to deliver market leading headphones, earbuds, speakers, soundbars, etc.  You will work closely with talented engineers from multiple disciplines in a culture that values innovation, world-class engineering, and creating amazing customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Program Manager and New Product Manager to lead the product development efforts from exploration through production.
  • Translate Product Requirements and User Needs into actionable system and sub-system technical requirements while leveraging HW and SW Platforms.
  • Establish and clarify cross-functional engineering and technical objectives to assure development team has holistic approach to best deliver product vision within business constraints, including cost, risk, schedule, etc.
  • Lead identification and navigation of trade-offs during development, to best deliver customer and business value, while managing schedule and risk.
  • Provide critical thinking and problem-solving oversight as needed, to achieve program goals and outcomes.
  • Own, and be accountable for, the quality and delivery of Architecture Reviews and Systems Design Reviews. 
  • Frequent collaboration with, and travel to, design and/or manufacturing facilities as necessary to support development and manufacturing partners.
  • Effectively communicate program status and risks regularly to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering discipline required, Masters preferred
  • 5+ years experience designing and developing high-volume HW + SW products, preferably in consumer electronics or similar product segment
  • Experience leading technical development projects/programs utilizing strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills
  • Experience translating user and business needs & requirements into system specifications and architectural approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex and/or loosely-bounded problems into solvable components or structure
