Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing system level support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance and support of these systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Work to support various systems (SFC, SAP, B2B, etc.).
  • Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
  • Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade operating system, hardware and software.
  • Work with cross-functional departments to define requirements and objectives for new and existing applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.
  • Record and maintain hardware/software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware and peripherals to include; network cards, printers, modems, mice and add-in boards.
  • Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current system.
  • Recommend, implement and support continuous improvement within the department and the company to improve employee performance, quality control, productivity, efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Provide user training and documentation as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Proven experience with Microsoft OS (including Server), Office, Lotus Notes, ERP, backup applications.
  • Knowledge of AD, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, Symantec End Point, TCP/IP, VOIP.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to bend, twist, stoop, reach, climb ladders or lift materials (up to 50 pounds).
 
Education and Experience:
 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience. System technician must have 3 years working experience in IT or related area if no bachelor's degree. 
  • Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge in the following systems/programs; windows 2000/XP/7, windows server 2003/2007, MS Office, Cisco routers/switches/firewall setup/administration.
  • Linux/Unix, .net, MSCE certification is a plus.
  • One to two years experience of programming and/or system analysis experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, Symantec Endpoint, TCP/IP, and VoIP
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • One to two years of programming and/or systems analysis experience
  • Linux/Unix knowledge
  • .NET knowledge
  • MCSE certification
