Delaware Nation Industries is seeking a System Administrator – Mid to support the Air Force Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System/Joint Interoperability Test and Services mission. The System Administrator will provide day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security support for enterprise systems operating across classified and unclassified environments.
The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative systems administration team supporting Linux and Windows platforms, virtualized infrastructure, network-connected services, and mission-critical users. This position requires sound technical judgment, strong documentation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot issues while maintaining system availability and compliance with DoD security requirements.
Responsibilities- Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers, workstations, applications, and related computing environments.
- Install operating systems, software, patches, updates, and security fixes in accordance with approved change-control and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor system health, availability, capacity, and performance; identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform Tier II and Tier III troubleshooting for hardware, operating system, application, virtualization, networking, and connectivity issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, access controls, and system configurations in accordance with security policies.
- Support systems operating across classified and unclassified networks, including mission-essential environments and controlled data-transfer processes.
- Perform or support electronic and manual data transfers between authorized network environments.
- Maintain system backups, recovery procedures, configuration records, inventories, and standard operating procedures.
- Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), vulnerability-remediation procedures, and other applicable DoD security controls.
- Support vulnerability scanning and remediation activities, including review and correction of findings from tools such as ACAS/Nessus when assigned.
- Assist with system builds, provisioning, integration, software installation, upgrades, and restoration activities.
- Support virtual machines and virtualized infrastructure, including VMware or comparable technologies.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, service desk, application, and Government teams to resolve incidents and maintain continuity of operations.
- Document incidents, changes, troubleshooting actions, and resolutions in the designated IT service-management or configuration-management system.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, testing, exercises, and after-hours or on-call support as required by the contract.
- Cross-train with other administrators and contribute to knowledge transfer, technical documentation, and process improvement.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
- At least three (3) years of professional systems administration experience.
- DoD 8570/8140-compliant IAT II certification, such as Security+ CE or another current DoD-approved equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems in an enterprise or DoD environment.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, SSH, file and print services, and common server-support concepts.
- Experience with system patching, configuration management, backups, troubleshooting, and security hardening.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions with appropriate documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively independently and on a small technical team.
- Ability to support classified systems in accordance with applicable security, access-control, and operational procedures.
- Experience supporting Air Force, JWAC, JITS, intelligence, or other DoD mission environments.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Debian, or comparable Linux distributions.
- Experience with VMware vSphere, virtual machine provisioning, or virtual infrastructure operations.
- Familiarity with ACAS/Nessus, STIG Viewer, HBSS/endpoint security tools, or comparable DoD cybersecurity tools.
- Experience with scripting or automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Puppet, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, NFS, iSCSI, VDI, load balancing, or cross-domain/data-transfer systems.
- ITIL, Linux, VMware, or related industry certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
