BAE Systems seeks an experienced technical professional to lead the operation, maintenance, and training of Navy and commercial auxiliary support systems at Surface Combat Systems Center on Wallops Island. The selected candidate will oversee corrective and preventive maintenance of air compressors, water SKIDs, air dehydrators, and associated piping; develop and deliver training to Navy personnel and contract staff; and ensure compliance with Navy records-management and hazard-material procedures.
Key Responsibilities
System Maintenance & Repair
- Install, troubleshoot, and perform corrective maintenance on water and air pipelines, heat exchangers, valves, and related equipment.
- Fabricate metal supports for cable management and repair leaks/ruptures in tactical and commercial equipment.
- Utilize Pro-Press equipment for pipe joining; train others on its safe operation.
- Conduct soldering of air and water lines; provide hands-on instruction to trainees.
Training & Workforce Development
- Design, deliver, and certify training programs for Active Duty Navy and contract personnel on emergency operations, recovery processes, and routine monitoring/maintenance.
- Mentor and certify personnel in the operation of compressors (AIR), SKIDs (Water), and air dehydrators.
Planning, Scheduling & Logistics
- Create and manage comprehensive maintenance plans that include timelines for scheduled tasks.
- Direct, organize, and coordinate maintenance actions to keep equipment operable.
- Identify and request necessary tools, materials, and spare parts; ensure Hazmat and material readiness well in advance of work windows.
Documentation, Reporting & Analysis
- Maintain logs, records, inspection forms, and use Maintenance Information Systems to track equipment status and maintenance performed.
- Prepare detailed equipment status reports for delivery to the Government customer.
- Create and maintain system records in compliance with Navy Records Management procedures.
- Apply analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail to assess maintenance needs, validate plans, and ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
Casualty Response & Work-Around Design
- Develop and implement "work-around" solutions to mitigate critical equipment failures and sustain operational readiness.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet BAE Systems' quality and safety requirements as well as Navy standards.
Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as the technical liaison between BAE Systems, Navy stakeholders, and contract personnel to ensure seamless execution of maintenance and training activities.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Navy and/or commercial auxiliary support systems (compressors, water SKIDs, air dehydrators, pipe fitting).
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings for installation and maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in soldering air/water lines and operating Pro-Press equipment; capable of training others.
- Experience fabricating metal supports and performing cable-management installations.
- Strong background in training personnel on emergency and routine operations.
- Ability to develop and maintain records in accordance with Navy Records Management (RM) requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing clear status reports for government customers.
- Active Secret security clearance (or eligibility).
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working at or supporting SCSC Wallops Island or similar Navy installations.
- Formal training or certification in welding, pipefitting, or related trades.
- Familiarity with Hazardous Materials (HazMat) handling and compliance procedures.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $61278 - $104173

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
