The System Administrator will support daily administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of Windows-based systems in a secure federal environment. This role is ideal for an administrator with hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure who can work both independently and under the guidance of senior technical staff. The position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance and a strong understanding of Windows system operations, user support, patching, documentation, and secure configuration practices.
What You Will Do
• Administer and support Windows Server and Windows desktop systems across secure enterprise environments. • Create, modify, and maintain user accounts, groups, permissions, organizational units, and access controls within Active Directory. • Apply approved system patches, updates, and configuration changes in accordance with established maintenance procedures. • Assist with Group Policy management, workstation configuration, software installation, and system baseline maintenance. • Monitor system health, review logs, respond to alerts, and escalate complex issues to senior administrators or engineering teams as appropriate. • Perform troubleshooting for common hardware, software, operating system, authentication, and connectivity issues. • Support vulnerability remediation activities, including reviewing scan findings, applying fixes, and documenting remediation status. • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting steps, inventory records, and standard operating procedures. • Assist with backups, restore testing, account audits, system checks, and routine operational tasks. • Coordinate with help desk, cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to support reliable and secure system operations.
What We Expect of You
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required at the time of hire. • U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract and clearance requirements. • 4+ years of relevant experience in systems administration, desktop/server support, or enterprise IT operations. • Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and Windows desktop environments. • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, user permissions, and basic enterprise authentication concepts. • Experience performing system patching, software installation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance activities. • Ability to follow change management, security, documentation, and operational procedures in a secure environment. • Strong customer service, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with senior administrators, cybersecurity teams, network teams, and end users. • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, or the ability to obtain/maintain required compliance certification, is a plus. • Experience supporting VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualized server environments, is a plus. • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, vulnerability scanning tools, secure configuration standards, and remediation workflows, is a plus. • Experience using PowerShell for basic administration, reporting, or automation tasks, is a plus. • Exposure to Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, SCCM, MECM, WSUS, or similar patching and deployment tools, is a plus. • Basic understanding of backup and recovery processes, file services, print services, and enterprise monitoring tools, is a plus.
