Job Title: Sybase DBA
Experience: 4-6 Years
Role Description: The Sybase DBA would need to have at least 3+ years of experience. This Candidate will join the financial services team and will be responsible for database design, structure, and maintenance of one or more discrete databases, used by business units and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities:
- Install and upgrade Sybase servers.
- Configure database servers.
- Monitor and maintain system health and security.
- Design backup processes for server and associated data.
- Create accounts for all users and assign security levels.
- Establish a disaster recovery protocol.
- Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution.
- Schedule and perform regular server maintenance.
- Create database management procedures.
- Evaluate data analysis models and procedures.
- Participate in company’s cross-training program.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Database Administration of Sybase ASE versions 15.x and 16.x and Replication server.
- Strong experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, deadlocks, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization.
- Ability to detect & resolve issues related to CPU, Memory, I/O disk space etc.
- Installation and configuration of Sybase ASE versions 15.x and 16.x
- Strong knowledge on Sybase ASE upgrade from 15.x to 16.x
- Well versed in different flavors of Unix.
- Ability and willingness to learn and develop new mindsets and skills
- Ability to be self-directed and collaborative in ambiguous situations
- Bring new ideas and new ways of solving problems to the team
- Competent and demonstrated experience in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Interest in learning new technologies and developing additional skills
Professional Attributes:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills- Should have ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work in different shifts including night shift for 24/7 support.
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum 15 year of full-time education
