Job Responsibilities:

This is a general description of the essential functions of this job. This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.

• Operates Track Mobile manually and with remote control. Works with other crew members to safely perform several railcar movements: classifying inbound trains, pulling cars from storage, spotting railcars at requested departments, and building outbound trains for required pick up.

• Responsible for the daily railcar movement in the rail yard and repair departments.

• Regularly operates track mobile in a congested area and must use considerable caution to prevent damage to rail cars or accidents to employees.

• Operates switches and directs flow of cars in rail yard.

• Operates fork truck to safely move 1 rail car.

• Climbs on and off railcars and Track Mobile in a safe manner.

• Operates rail car hand brakes.

• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Have a high school diploma or GED

• Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.

• Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

• Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime.

• Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely.

• Ability to understand and follow UTLX operating procedures and policies based on safety and field training.

Working Conditions

• Exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat.

• Moderate physical exertion is required. Positions relatively heavy objects by using a forklift or other mechanical means.

• Manual dexterity in operating control levers and buttons.

• Must be willing to work outdoors and exposed to all weather conditions.

• Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

• Climbing onto and off track mobile and rail tank cars multiple times a day
