The SVP, Underwriting & Portfolio Strategic Change is responsible for the development and supporting the execution of the enterprise’s Portfolio & Capital planning strategy. Supporting the development and communication of Portfolio Management team’s strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of Portfolio & Capital Strategy.
  • Develop and prioritise initiatives to support the Portfolio & Capital strategy.
  • Collaborate with other key functions to identify, evaluate and execute on opportunities to most effectively deploy capital.
  • Evaluate opportunities to access new sources of capital.
  • Drive the delivery of insights on capital implications and feedback on portfolio construction.
  • Own the agenda for the quarterly Portfolio & Capital meetings and related annual events (such as Leadership Off sites / Team Conferences).
  •  Provide strategic support to the delivery of initiatives within the Portfolio Management team.
  •  Take ownership of communications and engagement within the Portfolio Management team.
  •  Lead and manage a team, ensuring alignment of team activities with the above responsibilities.

Required Skills & Experience:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required.
  • A professional accounting designation required (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA).
  • A minimum of 15 years of corporate development or consulting experience with a focus on (re)insurance as an asset.
  • Qualified Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) desirable. ▪ Solid analytical skills (financial and valuation), research skills, and financial modeling skills required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Board and Senior Management team communication experience required.
  • The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays if necessary.
