The SVP of Risk, Sustainability, and Environmental Affairs is critical to the identification and management of risks and opportunities relevant to the Group, including sustainability risks and opportunities. You will be responsible for developing and implementing risk management strategies and plans to help protect and enhance Group value, as well as the Group’s environmental strategies and initiatives. Your expertise in risk management, sustainability, environmental regulations, compliance, and stakeholder engagement will be crucial in driving the organization towards long-term success and resilience. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and promote environmental policies and programs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Risk management framework: Continuous development and embedding of the Group’s enterprise risk management framework (ERMF) as outlined in the Group’s ‘3 lines’ approach to risk identification and management (see below). You will assist Management in meeting their obligations under the risk management framework, reviewing the adequacy of risk treatment plans for material business risks (including business continuity), ensuring the identification and recording of emerging risks that may have a material impact on the Group achieving its strategic objectives, and ensuring the elements of the enterprise risk management framework are kept current and reviewed for effectiveness and compliance. Management and oversight of the Group’s ERMF risk, controls and compliance registers.
  • Sustainability strategy: Leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with the organization's values and goals. This includes identifying and prioritizing sustainability initiatives, setting targets and KPIs, and monitoring progress towards sustainability goals.
  • Compliance and regulatory requirements: Monitoring and reporting on compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to Group operations and activities. Ensuing the compliance framework is fit for purpose to enable risk and compliance owners to meet compliance obligations. Staying updated on emerging regulations and proactively recommending necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive a culture of risk awareness and sustainability. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure involvement and support in risk and sustainability initiatives.
  • Reporting and communication: Providing regular reports and updates to Global Executive Team (GET), the Board and/or the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board (ARC) on risk management and sustainability performance. Includes the development of metrics and KPIs. Communicating the Group’s risk and sustainability initiatives to internal and external stakeholders through various channels.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation: Working with risk owners across the Group to conduct risk assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies to prevent and minimize potential risks. This includes implementing risk controls, developing contingency plans, and conducting regular risk audits.
  • Continuous improvement: Continuously review and improve risk management and sustainability practices based on industry best practices, emerging trends, and stakeholder feedback. Identify opportunities for innovation and incorporate new technologies and methodologies to enhance risk and sustainability strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations: Maintain awareness of environmental laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which the Group operates and ensure that the Group operates in compliance with them. This includes obtaining and maintaining necessary permits and licenses and submitting required reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Environmental risk management: Conduct environmental risk assessments at all Telix operating facilities. Assess the Group’s environmental performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address environmental challenges and/or risk areas.
  • Monitor and report environmental performance: Track and measure the Group’s environmental performance, develop metrics, set KPIs, and prepare reports to communicate progress to internally and externally as required.
  • Climate-related risk management: Identify, understand, manage and communicate internally current and emerging risks of climate change on Telix’s operations (particularly its value chain) and strategy.
  • Develop and implement environmental sustainability strategies: Develop long-term plans and strategies to understand and, where relevant, minimize the Group’s environmental impact. Including, as necessary, leading the implementation of initiatives to understand and reduce carbon emissions, waste generation and resource consumption.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to integrate environmental considerations into decision-making processes and foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.
  • Guidance and training: Provide guidance and training to employees on environmental best practices, ensuring employees and risk owners understand their role in achieving environmental sustainability goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, or related field required
  • 15+ years of experience in risk management in a corporate setting, including the development and implementation of enterprise risk management frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in sustainability strategy development and implementation, including setting targets, monitoring progress, and reporting
  • Expertise in environmental risk management and compliance, including conducting risk assessments, staying abreast of environmental regulations, and ensuring organizational compliance
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, engage stakeholders, and drive a culture of risk awareness and sustainability
  • Experience in reporting to executive leadership and board-level committees on risk management and sustainability performance
  • Familiarity with emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in risk management, sustainability, and environmental affairs
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and innovation in risk and sustainability practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders
