The Role
Lead Instructure's global marketing function to drive pipeline, brand strength, and commercial growth. Own enterprise marketing strategy, BizGov segment execution, international marketing, and a multi-disciplinary team, while aligning marketing outcomes with sales and customer success and optimizing ROI.
Summary Generated by Built In

At Instructure, we believe in the power of people to grow and succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to amplify that power by creating intuitive products that simplify learning and personal development, facilitate meaningful relationships, and inspire people to go further in their education and careers.
We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that's where you come in:

What you will do:

Instructure is approaching $1B in ARR and operating at a scale where marketing must function as a true commercial engine. We’re looking for an SVP of Marketing who is ready to take the biggest step of their career: owning the full marketing function at a company of real consequence, with real proximity to the commercial outcomes that matter.

This is not a brand stewardship role. It is not a campaign management role. It is a senior commercial leadership position for a marketer who has spent their career building toward this moment and is ready to own it.

You will report to the President, Global Commercial Organization, and sit alongside Instructure’s Sales and Customer Success leadership within the commercial organization. You will lead a marketing organization of significant scale and depth — spanning lifecycle marketing across three major business segments, brand and creative, communications, and web and digital — while directly owning marketing strategy and execution for our BizGov segment.

Role & Responsibilities

The SVP of Marketing leads Instructure’s global marketing function and is accountable for the strategies, teams, and results that drive pipeline generation, brand strength, and commercial growth across all segments and markets.

You will propose and drive the enterprise marketing strategy in close partnership with the President, Global Commercial Organization, and execute that strategy through a talented, multi-disciplinary organization of marketing leaders and their teams.

Own the Enterprise Marketing Strategy

Set the direction for how Instructure generates awareness, builds pipeline, and wins and grows customers across Higher Education, K-12, International, and BizGov markets. Translate business objectives into marketing priorities. Make the hard resource and investment allocation decisions that strategy requires.

Drive Pipeline at Scale

Marketing’s most important commercial deliverable is pipeline. You will own pipeline contribution targets, hold your teams accountable to them, and partner peer-to-peer with Sales and Customer Success leadership to ensure marketing’s output converts. You understand pipeline coverage, funnel health, and what it takes to move a nearly $1B ARR business forward.

Own and Evolve the Instructure Brand and Narrative

The Instructure story needs to land more clearly and more powerfully across all markets. You will own that work — through the VP of Creative & Brand — and ensure the brand is an accelerant to commercial outcomes, not a separate workstream.

Lead International Marketing

Partner with the VPs of Lifecycle Marketing, International to ensure Instructure’s marketing presence, pipeline contribution, and brand strength extend meaningfully across global markets. Bring a globally-minded approach to strategy and execution.

Directly Own BizGov Segment Marketing

You will personally lead marketing strategy and execution for the BizGov segment, partnering with the relevant Sales and Customer Success counterparts to drive growth in this market.

Lead a High-Performing Marketing Organization

You will lead six direct reports spanning lifecycle marketing (Higher Ed, K-12, International), Communications, Web & Digital, and Creative & Brand. You set the standard, build the culture, develop the leaders, and ensure the org is structured and resourced to win.

Be a Credible Commercial Voice

You will represent marketing at the executive level and in board settings. You translate marketing performance into commercial language — pipeline contribution, bookings impact, revenue influence — and hold your own in those conversations alongside Sales and Customer Success peers.

Continuously Optimize for ROI

Make smart investment decisions, hold programs to measurable standards, and reallocate resources without sentiment when the data warrants it. Demonstrate the measurable performance and impact of your work across brand health, bookings contribution, pipeline impact, and campaign efficacy.

What Success Looks Like in Year One
  • Preference for our products is up amongst all of our targets. Pipeline generation is measurably up. Sales has a stronger, more consistent top-of-funnel and credits marketing as a genuine contributor.

  • The Instructure brand narrative is sharper, more differentiated, and landing consistently across segments and markets.

  • International marketing is operating with clearer strategy and stronger local execution.

  • Your direct reports are performing, developing, and clear on expectations.

  • You have earned credibility with Sales and Customer Success leadership through results and how you operate, not just your title.

What You Will Need Know/Have:
  • 10+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, with meaningful experience at companies of $300M ARR or greater.

  • Demonstrated ownership of pipeline generation — you’ve sat in QBRs, you know what pipeline coverage means, and you’ve been held accountable to revenue targets.

  • Experience leading multiple marketing functions simultaneously — you’ve managed beyond your core discipline and built leaders, not just teams.

  • International marketing experience — you’ve operated in or led marketing across multiple geographies.

  • A track record of brand and positioning work that moved commercial outcomes, not just perception scores.

  • Executive presence and communication skills that work at the board level and at a sales kickoff on the same day.

  • A mission-driven orientation around education and learning is a plus but not required.

  • Kindness, directness, and a good sense of humor. We take the work seriously and each other lightly.
