To safely transport patients to and from Radiology by following all safety protocols/processes. To ensure the safe and timely transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department.
Position Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
- None required. Will train.
- On job training, safe techniques for handling stretchers, wheelchairs, and I.V. poles. Ability to use oxygen tanks for transporting patients. Maintains CPR certification.
- Hospital setting, patient testing areas
- Efficient oral and written communication
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting (50lbs)
- Ability to transport patients in wheelchairs or stretcher up to 250 lbs. dependently and independently
- Exercises good judgment
- Checks all request for patient care information. (method of transport, oxygen use, other special instructions)
- Communicates special instruction to technologist(s), such as "Caution Falls Precaution"
- Logs all patients in and out from floor.
- Notifies monitor tech in CCU of patient location when leaving the floor and upon return to floor.
- Properly identifies patients before transporting them.
- Consistently evaluates patient's comfort and pain level before leaving patient in hall.
- Consistently brings patient chart to department for review by technologist/radiologist.
- Regularly cleans wheelchairs and stretchers with disinfectant.
- Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring that they are covered at all times during transport.
- Consistently makes sure that we have the proper amount of O2 tanks in our designated area.
- Understands the importance of communicating with nursing floor with IV pump issues.
- Willing to alter schedule and work different shifts to help with coverage.
