The Team

The Reactor Island Integration team designs the physical layout of the RR SMR Reactor Island, ensuring mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems integrate seamlessly with our modular build philosophy. We collaborate across engineering functions to deliver safe, efficient and optimised layouts for a highly complex and critical part of the power station.

Summary

We are seeking a Manager – Support & Outage Block Layout and Installations to lead the design and delivery of the Support and Outage Block mechanical layout for the Reactor Island. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Containment Layout & Installation, this role combines people leadership, technical integration and strategic planning within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Deliverables

We’ll need you to:

  • Deliver the Support & Outage Block mechanical layout, leading a team of Layout and Installation Engineers.

  • Recruit, manage and develop team members through coaching, training and performance support.

  • Define delivery strategy using inputs from Civils, Architecture, E3S, Human Factors, Systems, CAD, Operations, Build Certainty and Supply Chain.

  • Own the block‑level plan to ensure cost, schedule and quality delivery.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a complex and high‑impact area of the SMR design, bringing leadership, integration skills and technical insight to a growing engineering programme.

Essential Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Experience in mechanical integration, plant layout or installation design in complex engineering environments.

  • Strong people leadership skills with experience building and developing engineering teams.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • We’ll ask about your experience delivering integrated layout solutions and managing multidisciplinary inputs.

Location

Hybrid working available, with regular attendance at our Derby, Manchester or Warrington offices depending on project and team needs.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary £57,600–£75,600 DOE

  • 12.5% bonus

•    Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
•    Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
