Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Supply Chain Manager oversees end-to-end supply chain strategies and operations for our Beverly manufacturing facility. This strategic leadership role spans procurement, material planning, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and supplier management. Working closely with executive leadership, the ideal candidate will optimize inventory levels, strengthen vendor partnerships, ensure ITAR/FAR compliance, and align material flow with broader corporate operations and production schedules.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Executive Alignment

  • Partner directly with the COO and executive management to align supply chain strategies with overarching business growth, cash flow, and operational goals.
  • Lead and mentor the purchasing, planning, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and logistics teams.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (Inventory Turns, On-Time Delivery, PPV, Backlog) and present operational reviews and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Lead global and domestic sourcing initiatives, vendor selection, contract negotiations, and pricing agreements.
  • Establish key supplier metrics (OTD, quality rejection rates, lead times) and drive supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) to maintain high-precision quality standards.
  • Oversee critical raw material procurement, including specialized metals, plating services, and electronic components.
  • Experience in sourcing and qualifying suppliers for precision machined components, both domestically and internationally, for use in commercial and defense markets.

Materials Planning & Inventory Control

  • Collaborate with Production, Sales, and Engineering to maintain master production schedules (MPS) aligned with customer lead times.
  • Leverage ERP/MRP systems to manage material requirements planning, work order releases, and safety stock levels.
  • Drive cycle counting, audit controls, and physical inventory processes to maintain standard-setting inventory accuracy.

Logistics & Regulatory Compliance

  • Oversee site warehousing, shipping, and receiving operations to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant material flow.
  • Ensure full compliance with defense trade controls, including ITAR, EAR, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and international trade regulations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools to minimize shop-floor bottlenecks, drop holding costs, and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive supply chain experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment (RF/microwave, precision electronics, or aerospace/defense strongly preferred).
  • Leadership: 3+ years of experience in a direct supervisory or management role.
  • Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Compliance: Solid understanding of defense manufacturing regulatory frameworks, including ITAR, EAR, and DFARS sourcing rules.
  • Certifications: APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma certification highly desirable.
  • Citizenship: Due to ITAR requirements, US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident status is required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Fast-paced, on-site manufacturing plant environment.
  • Time split between standard executive office setting, active floor management, and warehouse areas.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • 7+ years progressive supply chain experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment
  • Experience in RF/microwave, precision electronics, or aerospace/defense manufacturing
  • 3+ years of direct supervisory or management experience
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
