The Role
Own end-to-end procurement for satellite programs, including supplier identification, qualification, onboarding, relationship management, RFQs, purchase orders, expediting, and delivery tracking. Translate engineering requirements into procurement plans, negotiate commercial terms, resolve supplier issues, support sourcing strategy and indigenisation, coordinate compliance documentation, and track costs, inventory, lead times, and supplier performance across critical space-grade components.
Summary Generated by Built In

As a Supply Chain Associate, you are expected to run the sourcing backbone of our satellite programs. Space qualified vendor ecosystems for many components are still forming; lead times are unpredictable and supply chains for high-reliability hardware often have to be created rather than simply managed. This role is as much about establishing new pipelines as it is about running existing ones.

You will own the end-to-end flow of parts, materials and services into our satellite build by identifying and qualifying vendors (domestic and international), negotiating and managing commercial relationships and coordinating closely with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into build-able procurement plans. Beyond SCM execution, you will contribute to supporting sourcing strategy, indigenisation efforts and supplier development and growing into greater ownership over time.

    1. Set up and grow the vendor pipeline: Identify, evaluate and onboard new suppliers across mechanical, electronic, optics and specialised space-grade components; build a qualified vendor base where one may not yet exist, including sourcing alternatives.

    1. Own vendor qualification: Drive supplier assessment, capability audits, sample evaluation and onboarding.

    1. Maintain and deepen supplier relationships. Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of vendors; manage commercial terms, negotiate pricing and lead times, resolve disputes and delivery issues, and cultivate long-term partnerships that scale with the company's programs.

    1. Lead technical discussions with vendors and internal teams. Sit at the interface between engineering and suppliers. Engage with specifications, datasheets, drawings and carry technical vendor conversations directly.

    1. Manage procurement execution. Handle RFQs, RFIs, purchase orders, order tracking, expediting and delivery follow-up; maintain accurate records of pricing, lead times and supplier performance.

    1. Contribute to SCM strategy for the space sector. Contribute to sourcing strategy, indigenisation roadmaps and make-vs-buy thinking suited to the realities of the Indian space ecosystem; help benchmark against global practice and share ideas on how the company builds a resilient, cost-effective supply chain over time. Ownership of strategy grows with experience in the role.

    1. Support compliance and documentation. Engage with teams managing import/export, licensing and regulatory considerations relevant to space and engineering components.

    1. Support cost and inventory management. Track spend against budget, drive cost-reduction initiatives and coordinate inventory levels of long-lead and critical items.

Requirements
  1. • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Aerospace) or in Supply Chain / Operations Management; an engineering background is strongly preferred given the technical nature of the role.

• 2–4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, or vendor management, ideally in aerospace, defence, electronics, precision manufacturing, or another high-reliability hardware domain.

• Demonstrated experience onboarding new vendors or building supplier pipelines from the ground up is a strong advantage.

• Exposure to the space, satellite, or deep-tech hardware ecosystem is a plus but not mandatory; a genuine willingness to learn the technical domain is essential.

  1. Strong attention to detail in tracking orders, costs, and supplier performance; comfortable working with spreadsheets, ERP/procurement tools, and structured data.

  1. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving, resource-constrained startup environment and takes end-to-end responsibility for outcomes.

  1. Clear communicator who can bridge engineering, quality, finance, and external vendors, and translate between technical and commercial languages.

Benefits
  • Fair Compensation in line with current market standards.

  • Start-up Culture: Be part of a high-growth, innovation-driven team. Opportunity to shape the backbone of one of India’s leading space-tech start-ups.

  • Open Culture: Freedom to explore, propose, and implement new ideas and processes.

  • Leadership Exposure: Work Closely with the Founding Team, Director – Technical Operations and other function heads at GalaxEye.

  • Industry Mentorship: Work with advisors and mentors holding senior positions and decades of industry experience.

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, precision manufacturing, or another high-reliability hardware domain
  • Experience onboarding new vendors or building supplier pipelines from the ground up
  • Exposure to the space, satellite, or deep-tech hardware ecosystem
  • Strong attention to detail in tracking orders, costs, and supplier performance
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, ERP systems, procurement tools, and structured data
