The Opportunity
The Supplier Risk & Capacity Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the supply base, with specific ownership for validating supplier capacity and identifying constraints that could impact supply continuity.
This is a technically oriented role requiring an engineering or manufacturing background and the ability to evaluate supplier operations, production capability, capacity assumptions, equipment constraints, and operational risks.
What you will do?
- Lead supplier risk assessments across capacity, financial, operational, geographic/geopolitical, and single-source risks.
- Validate supplier capacity against current demand, forecasts, and anticipated business growth.
- Conduct supplier capacity assessments using production rates, available hours, equipment capability, utilization, constraints, labor, tooling, and other relevant manufacturing inputs.
- Challenge supplier-stated capacity and identify bottlenecks, single points of failure, and constraints that could impact supply.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Procurement, and Supplier Quality on supplier capability and capacity reviews.
- Develop mitigation and contingency plans for high-risk suppliers, including alternate sources, additional capacity, dual sourcing, strategic inventory, or other continuity actions.
- Monitor early-warning indicators and escalate emerging supplier risks.
- Support new-supplier qualification and alternate-source evaluations from a capacity and operational risk perspective.
- Maintain supplier risk and capacity dashboards and provide clear risk visibility to Supply Chain leadership.
- Support supplier recovery and business-continuity activities when significant supply disruptions occur.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, supplier development, supplier quality, procurement, operations, or supply-chain risk.
- Demonstrated experience assessing manufacturing capability, production capacity, bottlenecks, and operational constraints.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, and production data.
- Experience working directly with suppliers in manufacturing or industrial environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-assessment skills.
