Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsible for supplier quality activities for assigned suppliers and commodities to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. Applies quality engineering principles to resolve supplier issues, improve performance, and support operational and business objectives.

Location: Tempe, AZ

- Travel estimated at ~50% or more.

Salary Range: $76,200 - 83,000 per year plus bonus Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in Arizona. Your Challenge:

  • Manage supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers by evaluating quality metrics, monitoring compliance, and driving improvements in product and process quality. (30%)

  • Lead investigations of supplier-related quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve supplier performance and reduce risk. (25%)

  • Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and qualification activities to evaluate manufacturing capability, process controls, and compliance with quality standards and contractual requirements. (15%)

  • Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and suppliers to support new product introductions, supplier transitions, and process changes while ensuring quality requirements are achieved. (15%)

  • Analyze supplier quality data and trends to identify risks, recommend improvements, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. (15%)

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.

  • Typically 2 to 4 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Aerospace experience preferred but not essential.

  • Familiar with PFMEA, AS9102 FAIR’s, control plans

  • Knowledge of quality engineering and measurement tools and methodologies. Experience in measurement techniques, GD&T, and measurement systems analysis skills, particularly with respect to machined components.

  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) processes, using RCCA tools such as 8D, Fishbone, 5 whys, etc.

  • Knowledge of supplier quality management systems, AS9100 / ISO9001, and auditing practices.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. Experience in working together with suppliers to achieve a common goal when dealing with problem resolution.

  • Must be able to manage multiple suppliers and be self-motivated. Expectations to manage suppliers, problem resolution, build relationships with suppliers, improve current PPM and OTD

  • Ability to influence suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
