The Supplier Development & CM Transfer Engineer is responsible for enabling the expansion of the current manufacturing supply capacity, improving cycle time while driving performance improvements in yield and overall product quality withing the Supply Chain. In this role you will also be responsible for driving the performance of the supply chain to comply with the specifications while identifying process improvements and sourcing new suppliers for new hardware technology programs. A critical aspect of this role is the enablement and process development and management for the transfer of change management and product lifecycle management to global outsourced manufacturing partners.
Reporting to the Director of Commodity Business Management – USA, this role is part of the Global Operations Team, which includes support based in Penang, Malaysia. On-site presence is required. While the role is officially under Pall—the Danaher legal entity operating in Malaysia—it is dedicated exclusively to supporting Cepheid’s business. Like Pall, Cepheid is one of Danaher’s 15+ operating companies.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Analyze manufacturing costs for diagnostic test equipment components at Suppliers and associated subassemblies at the manufacturing location(s), and monitor and drive the quality performance using tools such as the Danaher Business Systems, DMAIC, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Decompose manufacturing steps by labor cost, capacity, and technical processes as well as raw materials and their impact to the process and performance, and help define the critical manufacturing process controls to ensure quality.
- Oversee and optimize change management and product lifecycle processes, including checklists and validation criteria, to ensure seamless transfer from Manufacturing Engineering to global outsourced partners, covering all phases from new product introduction to sustaining production.
- Lead supplier selection and qualification for cost savings and capacity expansion and provide alternative manufacturing component assembly strategies.
- Ensure suppliers can support future designs, quality standards, and capacity needs. Identify gaps in supplier capabilities and create improvement plans.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in field with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience
- Ability to determine PCB level component material and assembly labor costs
- Familiarity with Agile and SAP
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- MS + 5 yrs experience in supplier manufacturing costing/negotiation
