Job Summary: 

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will demonstrate leadership in directing and motivating the workforce to produce products of high quality in the most efficient & safe manner & ensure that scheduling meets business demands.   

 

Responsibility: 

 

  • Drive and initiate continuous improvement activities to improve safety performance.  

  • Drive and initiate continuous improvement activities to increase OA, Rate and reduce Scrap Rate.  

  • Optimize the material flow to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.   

  • Understands how his/her job contributes to profitability.  

  • Lead by example and demonstrate involvement over control.  

  • Prompt team effort and treat people with dignity and respect.  

  • Initiate, seek and welcome change.  

  • Eliminate waste by rapidly solving problems at their source.  

  • Examine materials and products at all stages of processing for conformance to customer specifications.  

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to fulfill the requirements to ensure on-time delivery.  

  • Work closely with all departments to ensure production, melt, maintenance, and other departments are collaborating to meet common goal.  

  • Aggressively pursue OEE improvements by:  

  • Thoroughly investigating any recurring down time issues or any down time that is more than 20 minutes.  

  • Relentlessly pursuing the rate target.  

  • Study production schedules and make appropriate manpower requirements.  

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.  

  • Coach direct reports, assist in problem solving, and hold people accountable.  

  • Schedule, approve and submit employee timecard records using the Plex.  

  • Enforce safety standards and ensure employees are working in a safe manner.  

  • All other job duties assigned.  

 

Academic/Educational Requirements: 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.   

  • 3 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing setting.  

 

Required Skills/Experience: 

 

  • Strong leadership skills.  

  • Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.  

  • Must be able to read, write and complete required paperwork.  

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.  

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.  

  • Knowledge of production scheduling.  

  • Organized, self-motivated and self-directed.  

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.  

  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  

  • Must have Molten Metal Safety knowledge.  

  • Must have knowledge of solidification principles.  

  • Must have knowledge of casting defects categories and detection methods.  

  • Excellent attendance and safety record.
