We are looking for a Supervisor I, Accounts Payable to join our team in Costa Rica. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accurate processing of accounting transactions in Epicor and supporting the Accounting Services Manager and Accounting Director in Accounts Payable and broader accounting cycle activities. Provides direct supervision, guidance, and task delegation to analysts while balancing team workload. Key responsibilities include managing weekly supplier payments, employee reimbursements, travel expense processing, vendor invoice posting, monthly accruals, AP aging analysis, and general ledger/subledger reconciliations. Also ensures high customer service standards, supports audits, contributes to financial analysis, and drives achievement of annual departmental goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Manage key activities within the accounting cycle, primarily Accounts Payable (AP) and General Accounting, in coordination with Accounting Management.
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparation and analysis of accruals and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure general ledger accounts are accurately reconciled with corresponding subledgers.
- Process and maintain accounts payable transactions in Epicor (or similar ERP systems).
- Oversee the full AP cycle, including invoice processing, three-way match, payment runs, wire transfers, and issue resolution.
- Manage relationships and resolve payment-related issues with high-priority suppliers, internal buyers, and warehouse teams.
- Perform monthly supplier statement reconciliations and ensure accurate invoice coding across departments and sites.
- Maintain the AP mailbox, ensuring timely responses to invoices and vendor inquiries.
- Support internal and external audits, including corporate requests and compliance-related inquiries.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, International Accounting Standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (United States).
- Support budgeting activities, including budget preparation and execution analysis.
- Train and onboard new team members, while helping prioritize and balance team workload.
- Support the implementation of new systems and technology tools to improve accounting operations.
- Handle ad hoc requests, temporary accounting department support, and 1099 reporting requirements.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience in both the United States and Costa Rica, including at least 2 years in a team lead, supervisory, or people management role;
OR - Minimum of 6 years of related experience in both the United States and Costa Rica, including at least 2 years in a team lead, supervisory, or people management role.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external auditors.
- Strong knowledge of the full Accounting Cycle.
- Advanced English proficiency (B2+ required; C1 preferred).
Desirable:
- Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and certified CPI (Certified Accountant by the Colegio de Contadores Privados de Costa Rica)
- Experience with Epicor, Concur, OCR systems, and Esker
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, IAS, IFRS, and applicable local regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact across all organizational levels and present information clearly.
- Ability to interpret procedures and reports, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a self-directed team environment.
