Job Summary
The Supervisor of Clinical Informatics is a frontline people leader responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of clinical informatics work. This role supervises Clinical Informaticists supporting defined programs, service lines, or facilities and ensures timely delivery of workflow design, testing, training support, and go-live readiness activities.

The Supervisor translates enterprise standards and project plans into actionable work, escalates risks appropriately, and ensures consistent execution while maintaining strong relationships with clinical and technical stakeholders. 

Essential Functions

  • Execution & Team Oversight
    • Supervises daily work of Clinical Informaticists, including task assignment, prioritization, and issue resolution
    • Conducts performance check-ins, supports onboarding, and reinforces adherence to standards
    • Ensures deliverables meet quality, timeline, and documentation expectations
  • Clinical Informatics Delivery
    • Supervises the Clinical Informatics team in facilitating seamless transitions during technology enhancements, ensuring continuous alignment between technical solutions and clinical workflows
    • Supports implementation and optimization efforts within assigned scope
    • Identifies risks, defects, and adoption issues and escalates as appropriate
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serves as a local liaison between clinical users, informatics staff, and IT teams
    • Participates in project meetings, validation sessions, and change readiness activities
  • Governance & Standards
    • Provides feedback to Manager on process gaps, training needs, and improvement opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
    *A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Bachelors or Masters - 5-8 years in clinical informatics, healthcare operations, or health information technology
  • BSN/MSN - 5 years of Clinical Informatics Experience 
  • 1-3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • 1-3 years of experience advising executive leadership and participating in organizational governance structures 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master level understanding of clinical workflows and organizational operations across multiple care settings.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior and executive leadership.
  • Expert ability to develop enterprise strategies for workflow, testing, and Validation.
  • Strong command of change management frameworks and enterprise-level implementation methods.
  • Advanced analytical skills to drive long term performance improvements
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results independently.
  • Ability to identify and address complex organizational issues with minimal guidance.
  • Highly skilled in building cross functional alignment across departments, service lines, and leadership groups.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate organizational goals into workflow and system recommendations.
  • Recognized subject matter authority in clinical informatics principles and best practices.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or related field
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5-8 years in clinical informatics, healthcare operations, or health information technology
  • BSN/MSN with 5 years of Clinical Informatics experience (alternate experience path)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role
  • 1-3 years advising executive leadership and participating in organizational governance
  • Master-level understanding of clinical workflows and operations across multiple care settings
  • Expertise in change management, workflow design, testing, validation, and enterprise implementation methods
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills, including working with senior and executive leadership
