WGN-TV is searching for a creative, informed and innovative journalist to produce a morning newscast on the #1-rated WGN Morning News.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Produce strong, fast-paced hour-long newscasts with particular attention to breaking news
  • Digital media focused, adding original content and ideas to our website, mobile app, social media and WGN+ platforms
  • Work closely with other producers, field crews and the assignment desk to maximize daily resources and appropriately reflect the news of the day
  • Write captivating teases and review writers’ scripts
  • Create and order graphics for newscasts
  • Time out the show in the control room
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Desktop editing skills preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in news operations
  • Leadership ability, positive attitude and creativity a must

Salary Range:

80K to 90K Annualized - commensurate with applicant's experience and skill level
