The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate intern with a preferred major in Economics, Quantitative Social Science or History.  You must have experience and interests in both quantitative social sciences and history.  This opening will be onsite and may be eligible to work in a hybrid capacity on an as needed basis.  The work schedule is Monday – Friday (40 hour per week).  This is a 10-week paid internship. 

The salary grade for this position is as follows:

Undergraduate level student or recent graduate : $22.00 per hour.

Graduate level student or recent graduate: $26.00 per hour.

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, and skills, and internal equity and alignment with market data

NOTE:  You will support 2 economists

Projects:

  • You will support creating a database of vehicle registrations covering 1900-2019. The primary tasks include finding, researching, and requesting historical sources of vehicle data, digitizing these documents if not already digitized, and performing quality control and cleaning.
  • You will create economic data to study housing affordability, particularly wages for public sector jobs.
  • You support data construction for a project studying the reversal of the Chicago River.
  • You may assist with other projects as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft office suite fluency required.
  • Knowledgeable with R, Stata, and/or Python preferred.
  • Organization and attention to detail are essential.
  • Sitting at a computer for long periods of time, potentially scanning documents and visiting archives
