Job Summary

Alaska Overview
The Alaska segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, natural gas and NGLs. We are the largest crude oil producer in Alaska and have major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk and Western North Slope asset areas. Additionally, we are one of Alaska’s largest owners of state, federal and fee exploration leases, with approximately one million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2025. Alaska operations contributed 12 percent of our consolidated liquids production and one percent of our consolidated natural gas production.
In 2025, net crude oil production for Alaska averaged 199 MBOED.

Position Overview

The Alaska Subsurface Data Analyst supports multidisciplinary teams responsible for characterizing and developing North Slope reservoirs. This role manages and improves subsurface data, databases, and digital workflows to enhance data quality, accessibility, and efficiency in support of well planning, drilling, permitting, and development activities.

This position plays a central role in subsurface data management and digital workflow improvement. The analyst works closely with geoscience, engineering, and digital teams to support data governance, system integration, and process automation while managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results with minimal supervision.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Support drilling operations by loading and managing real-time and recorded subsurface data, and partner with technical specialists to ensure final data is quality-controlled and properly integrated into applicable systems
  • Develop maps and technical data products to support well permitting, regulatory submissions, and stakeholder needs for drilling and development activities
  • Develop and implement workflows that improve efficiency in mapping, data management, and technical analysis
  • Support the loading, synchronization, and organization of subsurface data across petrotechnical applications and digital work environments
  • Lead data governance efforts by defining standards, workflows, and quality control processes that maintain organized, accessible, and high-quality technical data
  • Maintain subsurface databases, collaboration sites, shared data environments, and vendor data exchange platforms that support technical teams
  • Support compliance with regulatory and external agency data and deliverable requirements
  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives by testing workflows, identifying data requirements, and helping ensure data structures support automation, analytics, and emerging digital capabilities
  • Identify and lead standardization efforts that improve integration of subsurface data with enterprise data platforms and tools
  • Identify opportunities to improve data flow, system integration, and digital tool performance, and collaborate with technical teams and vendors to implement practical workflow improvements

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geoscience, engineering, related field or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of industry experience in geoscience technical support
  • Intermediate proficiency with Petrel/Studio, ArcGIS, Python or SQL, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Intermediate knowledge of geoscience data, including log data, formation tops, seismic data, seismic interpretation products

Preferred:

  • 5 or more years of geoscience technical support experience in development assets
  • Advanced knowledge of geoscience and reservoir datasets
  • Intermediate knowledge of Alaska regulatory environment
  • Intermediate proficiency with Techlog, StarSteer, Visual Studio Code, and Snowflake
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong database management practices, recommend process improvements, and implement data QA/QC methods
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to identify and advance practical improvements in workflows, data quality, and digital tools
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new tools, systems, and digital workflows
