Position Description
The Substation and Microgrid Design Supervisor will oversee a team of drafters and designers, assigning projects and tasks and provide quality control review of design work. As a hands-on role, this position also develops, checks and coordinates designs and drawings needed for substation and microgrid projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with engineering staff, will develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies and procedures.
- Develop plans, elevations, sections, bill of materials of substation and facility systems, inclusive of below ground and above ground designs.
- Prepare and oversee electrical power system drawings including single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Team and project management: Monitor work performed by drafters and designers on project team and ensure high-quality, timely delivery.
- Ensure all project comments and markups are incorporated into the project's design documents.
- Will perform complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards, design/drafting standards, and technical accuracies are incorporated.
- Attend coordination meetings and collaborate with the engineering staff for input and reviews.
- Perform field verification of existing facilities.
- Familiarity with engineering and construction industry standards.
- Will play a role while interfacing with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as needed.
- Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and may concurrently support multiple projects.
- Oversee and update the company design/drafting standards with support of the drafting and design team.

Skills | Knowledge | Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent in drafting, engineering technology or related field(preferred).
- Minimum often (10+)years of experience, five (5+) years with design of electrical systems (substations and/or microgrids) is required.
- Electrical circuit and power flow fundamental knowledge(required).
- Capable of laying out equipment and routing of conduit, cable tray, duct banks, and grounding grids.
- Proficient with AutoCADand/orMicroStation, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
- Bentley Substation, AutoDesk Inventor, SDS (Substation Design Suite), Arc-GIS, PLS-CADD, and/or Pole Foreman are preferred, but not required. Opportunities to learn these software suites will be provided.
- Previous experience as a Team Lead or Design Supervisor is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to others ontheteamwhile alsocontinuingto learn, grow, and expand knowledge with the support of theengineering personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Oversee and manage a small team of Drafters and Designers.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- You must be a US Citizen.
- Military Base Security Access Clearance is required for this position.
- Valid driver’s license is required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.
Travel
- Travel to project sites may be required.
Compensation | Benefits
- We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $120,000 - $143,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
