The Role

Apptronik is building robots for the real world to improve human quality of life and to help solve the ever-increasing labor shortage problem. You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

JOB SUMMARY

We’re seeking Studio Engineers to help shape the future of robotics. We’re looking for individuals with a multidisciplinary skillset, passionate about working at the cutting edge of an emerging industry. As a key member of our growing design team, you’ll collaborate with designers and engineers from across the company to play a vital role in bringing our design vision to life.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop aesthetic and functional prototypes, working closely with designers to ensure that the early models reflect both the design intent and engineering feasibility.
  • Create and refine CAD to transition designs from concept to prototype or production-ready data.
  • Assist designers in the development of concepts through range of motion analysis, design for manufacture considerations, assessment of new componentry and material requirements to ensure a balance between creative exploration and technical practicality.
  • Manage the transfer of data, and act as a liaison, between design, engineering and other inter-disciplinary teams across the company.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as Creo, Solidworks, Fusion etc) and industry best practices from concept to prototype and production.
  • Experience designing and building physical prototypes.
  • An ability to maintain clear and concise data and documentation.

NICE-TO-HAVE’S 

  • Experience in the field of robotics.
  • Experience taking products to production.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, product design engineering or related field
  • At least 4+ years of experience in mechanical design (or equivalent field) with a focus on prototype, design development and production development.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • [Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen

  • Optional hybrid work schedule (i.e. work from home in some capacity).
