- 12M Fixed-term role based at Mascot Head Office
Qantas has always been dedicated to going above and beyond for their customers – both in the air, and on the ground and at Qantas Loyalty; we’re a huge part of that commitment. By taking the time to recognise and reward our members, we build stronger relationships with the people who matter most.
As the Strategy & Transformation Lead, you will be critical to the development and execution of a key Qantas Loyalty Financial Services Payments initiative and directly accountable for ensuring effective end-to-end business alignment. This role acts as the central business orchestrator across different stakeholder streams and is responsible for both development of the overarching strategy for the product, as well as the supporting strategies which will govern and regulate implementation and adoption of the product.
You will collaborate closely with dedicated specialist teams—including Delivery, Technology, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, and Digital Product—ensuring that technical, operational, and promotional tracks associated with this implementation align seamlessly with strategy, commercial requirements, target customer experience, and deliver projected EBIT growth. You will also be accountable for Partner engagement and management, ensuring objective and outcome alignment.
What You’ll Bring:
- 8+ years of experience in Strategy and Business Transformation (consultancy or in-house), Program Management, Product Delivery, or Commercial Leadership within FinTech, Payments, or Banking. Direct involvement in successfully executing at least one complex payments, card portfolio, core processor, or card scheme migration preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Information Technology, Economics, or related fields. Post-graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA) are highly regarded.
- Payments Domain Expertise: Thorough understanding of payment card lifecycles, card issuing, transaction processing, and Scheme operating frameworks.
- Matrix Influence & Collaboration: Exceptional capability to lead without direct authority, establishing highly collaborative relationships with delivery, technical, product, commercial and marketing specialists.
- Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Exceptional commercial modeling, pricing analysis, and business-casing skills with the ability to translate technical features into customer and commercial value.
- Complex Program Leadership: Strong structured and lateral thinking skills; ability to remain "deeply immersed" in complex, technical project details while maintaining a strategic, high level view.
- Negotiation & Deal-Making: Proven capability in managing commercial contracts, driving vendor negotiations, and executing partner onboarding and offboarding.
- Agility & Problem-Solving: Resilient and results-oriented with the capability to drive initiatives under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and navigate tight deadlines with a proactive, can-do attitude.
