PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $171,700.00-$209,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $133,100.00 - $248,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: 

 

As the Strategic Support Director – People Team, you'll help shape the future of BECU by turning strategy into meaningful action. Partnering with senior leaders across the organization, you'll connect enterprise priorities with People Team strategies and business execution, ensuring strategic initiatives are aligned, integrated, and successfully delivered. Your ability to build relationships, influence across teams, and identify opportunities for collaboration will help strengthen organizational effectiveness while creating positive experiences for employees, members, and the business. 

You’ll also play a key role in supporting merger, acquisition, and integration activities by helping translate complex people, process, and organizational needs into clear plans, coordinated execution, and thoughtful employee experiences. 

In this highly visible individual contributor role, you'll serve as a strategic partner within the People Team, bringing together people, processes, and communication to keep leaders and teams aligned, engaged, and moving toward shared goals. Whether you're leading enterprise people initiatives, supporting executive decision-making, improving operational rhythms, advancing employee-focused strategies, or guiding organizational change, your work will have a lasting impact on BECU's culture, workforce, and continued success. 

 

To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, CA, AZ, TX, NC, SC, GA, or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week.  For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.  

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

 

  • Partner on Business Strategy: Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and manage the business unit's strategic direction, ensuring alignment with BECU's enterprise vision and strategic roadmap. 

  • Drive Strategic Execution: Establish and execute operational business processes and management routines that keep key BECU and business unit priorities on track and moving forward. 

  • Lead Enterprise Programs: Develop and implement multiple concurrent strategies and programs that support BECU's strategic business objectives and employee engagement goals. Analyze survey results and other feedback systems to identify employee, member, and business unit needs and implement meaningful actions that drive continuous improvement. 

  • Support Merger, Acquisition, and Integration Activities: Partner with People Team leaders, business stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to support merger, acquisition, and integration efforts, including organizational alignment, stakeholder coordination, communication planning, change readiness, and execution of people-related integration workstreams. 

  • Strengthen Organizational Communication: Develop division-wide communications that foster a unified culture while helping employees understand organizational goals, strategic objectives, initiatives, projects, and programs. 

  • Enhance Operational Excellence: Establish and manage the business unit's operational rhythms, including management routines, business reviews, and organizational processes. Develop reliable feedback mechanisms that generate insights to continually improve the quality of service provided by the business unit. 

  • Lead Organizational Change: Serve as a change leader across business units and functions, helping ensure the successful implementation of programs, services, strategic initiatives, and merger or acquisition-related integration efforts. 

  • Collaborate Across the Organization: Work closely with executives, directors, managers, and cross-functional partners to ensure resources are appropriately allocated, project timelines remain current, and the overall development lifecycle stays on track. 

  • Support Executive Planning: Provide strategic input and facilitation support for programs, staffing, organizational design, strategy development, and budget planning for senior business unit leaders. 

  • Contribute to Business Planning: Participate in business unit planning sessions, initiative review teams, committees, and meetings while assisting in the development of business cases for strategic projects. 

  • Enable Executive Decision-Making: Support the development of board- and senior executive-level communication tools and processes, including business results, initiative updates, proposals, and presentations that help leaders make informed decisions. 

  • Contribute Where Needed: Perform additional duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work and education experience.  

  • 7 years of relevant experience in operations management, project management, business implementation, and/or human resources 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting merger, acquisition, integration, or other large-scale organizational transformation efforts, preferably within HR, People, Shared Services, or business operations functions. 

  • Experience leading large-scale project teams. 

  • Demonstrated conceptual, program and project management skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills, enabling individuals to communicate directly and diplomatically with all levels of employees. 

  • Experience preparing executive-level communications, decision materials, dashboards, or status updates.  

  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and bring structure, prioritization, and execution discipline to evolving work. 

  • Demonstrated planning skills in both tactical and strategic planning. 

  • Effective leadership and negotiation skills; ability to engage and influence others to achieve results. Ability to persuade through consensus building.  

  • Broad understanding of core HR disciplines, including HR operations, compensation, benefits, HR technology 

  • Experience translating business requirements into actionable plans, project deliverables, and cross-functional implementation tasks. 

  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools, such as Smartsheet, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana or similar tools. 

  • Project management certification preferred, such as PMP, PgMP, Agile/Scrum certification, or equivalent practical experience. 

  • Strong change management experience, including stakeholder readiness, communication planning, adoption support, and leadership alignment.
