The Role

Position:
Strategic Sourcing Category Manager
Job Description:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for analyzing business requirements, collaborating with stakeholders, understanding historical trends, and utilizing market information to develop multi-year strategic plans that deliver the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) within assigned categories. This role focuses on developing and driving strategic sourcing strategies with goals of reducing costs, analyzing market trends, and optimizing the supplier portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Strategic Plans:
    • Analyze business requirements and market information to create multi-year strategic plans aimed at delivering the lowest TCO.
    • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies and plans with the objectives of reducing overall TCO and achieving net cost reductions based on annual goals.
  • Market Analysis:
    • Analyze market trends to evaluate their ongoing impact on sourcing strategies.
    • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers that meet company sourcing needs (category, program, volume, and timing) in line with Arrow's strategy.
    • Perform initial vendor assessments, including risk, maturity, capability, and capacity evaluations.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Analyze current spend and evaluate suppliers to rationalize the portfolio.
    • Obtain information from suppliers regarding product/service specifications, pricing, and delivery dates.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with a focus on progressive contracting methodologies while balancing the organization's needs for vendor consolidation and security/risk management requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with vendors, internal stakeholders, and business leaders.
    • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and often lead project teams.
    • May formally train junior staff.


Who are we looking for?

  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products, services, or processes.
  • Typically resolves complex problems where precedent may not exist.
  • 5 years of experience in a procurement management role


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze market trends and spend data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead project teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing strategies and best practices.
  • Experience with progressive contracting methodologies and risk management.
  • Experience in optimizing the tail end, supply base optimization and category management.


Nice to have:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Certification in supply chain management or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
  • Experience in a similar industry or with a similar scale of operations.
