What You'll Do
Flatiron Health K.K. is hiring a Strategic Partnerships Manager / Senior Manager to support and accelerate our business in Japan through strategic partnerships. You will help build external partnerships with a wide range of partners, including cancer hospitals, government authorities, and cooperating agencies across the Japanese medical system.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Japan Country Lead / Head of Strategic Partnerships, Strategic Partnerships, and various multi-disciplinary cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., product, engineering, legal, clinical) to:
  • Scale oncology data partnership opportunities with cancer hospitals and government agencies in Japan, through effective engagement of the relevant external stakeholders
  • Drive relevant ethical review and contractual processes
  • Propose approaches to maintain and evolve our relationships with the site partners
  • Ensure alignment and successful execution of partnership projects
  • Conduct ongoing market intelligence to inform Flatiron's strategy and identify new opportunities in the Japanese oncology ecosystem.
  • Continuously gather feedback from partners and internal teams to optimize processes.
  • Manage budgets or resources related to partnership activities as needed.

Who You Are
We are looking for outstanding interpersonal and analytical skills, strategic thinking, enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, and a passion for tackling the most difficult and complex problems in healthcare in a fast-paced, start-up environment. You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are.
  • You have 7-10 years experience developing external and internal relationships in healthcare in Japan, ideally in pharmaceutical industries with an experience of engagement with KOLs
  • You have knowledge of the Japanese healthcare system, including hospitals, private industry players, government ministries, and relevant laws and regulations
  • You have strong project management skills with demonstrated success in completing highly complex, cross-functional projects in pharmaceutical or other relevant industries.
  • You have bilingual written and spoken proficiency in Japanese and English, and are able to engage in external and internal discussions in formal settings.
  • You are a strong, analytical problem solver, able to break down ambiguous problems to identify strategic business decisions and their implications.
  • You are able to proactively propose solutions to conduct effective market research for Flatiron's strategy development and reinforcement.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and willingness to teach and learn.
  • You are a team collaborator and willing to work with members of the various functions.
  • You have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within Japanese and Western business cultures.
  • You are excited about working in a passionate, fast-paced, technology-driven culture.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit / "go-getter" mentality - you're able to be flexible in your role and priorities as needed to advance Flatiron's mission.
  • You are able to travel within Japan for meetings with partners and stakeholders.

Extra Credit
  • You have specific domain expertise in an area relevant to Flatiron's products or operations: RWD, RWE, cancer hospitals, oncology, observational research, health regulatory authority interaction, outcomes research, clinical research or related data/ research products.
  • You have experience working in the medical affairs, clinical development, or relevant team at a pharmaceutical company.
  • You have experience working in a start-up environment with product and engineering teams.
  • You have a medical, research, or science background.

Statutory Benefits
  • Employment Term: Indefinite
  • Probationary Period: 6 months
  • Work Location: Tokyo, Japan
  • Work Hours: The normal work hours are 9:00 - 18:00. This role is eligible for the flex-time system.
  • Holidays: Saturday, Sunday and public holidays
  • Social Insurance: Health, Pension, Employment and Workers' Accident
  • Smoking: No smoking allowed in the office, smoking area is in the building

Preferred Primary Location: Tokyo office
The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
