Business Unit:  Clinical Supply Services

With 9 facilities in the US, EU, and Asia/Pacific region, and more than 50 depots covering 6 continents, Catalent Clinical Supply Services has a robust network built around flexible and integrated service offerings for pharmaceuticals in clinical trial phases I-IV. IPosition Summary  

We are seeking a motivated and driven Strategic Client Director to join our Project Delivery team and support the development, growth and management of strategic client relationships across the Asia Pacific region.  This role owns early-stage client engagement through to opportunity conversion and handover, shaping high value clinical solutions and establishing trusted, long term partnerships.

The Strategic Client Director independently manages a portfolio of growth and strategic accounts, with end‑to‑end accountability for the clinical commercial relationship. The role focuses on building credibility and trust with decision‑makers, influencers, and operational stakeholders, while guiding clients through the full CSS customer journey. Success in this role requires strong strategic and project management capability, the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, and close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to progress opportunities, close deals, and position Catalent as a preferred strategic partner.

II. Responsibilities:

The responsibilities can be broken down into three major areas:

Strategic Client Leadership

  • Act as sponsor and primary relationship steward for assigned strategic clients, delivering a concierge‑level partnership experience.
  • Build trusted, multi‑level client relationships with clear governance, communication, and escalation pathways.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point and voice of the customer, ensuring alignment, timely action, and confident issue resolution.
  • Lead client governance forums including Executive Business Reviews, QBRs, quality reviews, and strategic workshops, with accountability for actions, KPIs, and outcomes.
  • Provide concise, senior‑level reporting on client health, risks, opportunities, and performance trends.

Early Commercial Engagement & Account Growth

  • Lead early scientific, operational, and strategic discussions to shape feasible, high‑value client solutions.
  • Guide protocol feasibility reviews and early operational planning to accelerate client decision‑making and study start‑up.
  • Partner closely with Business Development on early engagement inputs, proposals, and contracting readiness for complex or strategic opportunities.
  • Provide sponsor‑specific guidance to internal teams to ensure proposals, commitments, and delivery models align with client expectations.
  • Identify and advance expansion, cross‑service, and global growth opportunities in partnership with BD and Operations.
  • Maintain early engagement standards, playbooks, and value‑tracking mechanisms to ensure consistency and measurable impact.

Delivery Oversight & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure seamless transition from pre‑award to delivery, maintaining continuity and client confidence.
  • Provide strategic oversight of delivery performance, anticipating and resolving risks that could impact partnership health or outcomes.
  • Align, influence, and coach cross‑functional teams to execute strategic account and client partnership plans.
  • Support development of forward‑looking project management resource and capability plans to meet current and future client demand.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Catalent’s service portfolio, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
  • Undertake additional leadership responsibilities as required to support enterprise and client success.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific subject area or equivalent.
  • 8 years of experience in client-facing project management or customer services within the pharmaceutical and/or life sciences industry
  • Experience with clinical trials preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Mandarin would be considered an advantage
  • In‑depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, research, and clinical development landscape.
  • Strong understanding of clinical services business models and end‑to‑end clinical program execution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the drug development lifecycle, including regulatory pathways and filings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and collaborate effectively within complex, cross‑functional and multi‑disciplinary environments.
  • Proven capability to manage, prioritize, and deliver multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, with strong judgment, agility, and effective multi‑tasking skills.
  • High sense of urgency, strong attention to detail, and a clear results‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong customer focus with extensive customer‑facing experience and a demonstrated commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations.
