The Department
Strategic Advisers, LLC is a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of FMR LLC that provides investment management services to clients through Fidelity’s retail and institutional distribution channels. For more than 25 years Strategic Advisers has specialized in the design, construction, and management of asset allocation solutions, as well as the methodologies for many of Fidelity’s investment planning tools, to help investors reach their financial goals. With over $1 trillion in assets under management in a blend of Fidelity and third-party mutual funds, SMAs, ETFs and Sub-Advised Mandates, the Strategic Advisers team of investment professionals’ constructs and manages asset allocation portfolios for more than 3.5 million customer accounts.
The Team
SAI’s Fundamental Research team is a well-resourced team of analysts and associates organized across four teams including US Equity, International Equity, Fixed Income, and Liquid Alternatives. Each team is responsible for conducting manager research within their respective asset classes to identify high conviction portfolio managers and strategies to invest in on behalf of our clients as we seek to help them achieve their financial goals through a diversified multi-asset class portfolio solution.
The Role
The internship is a 10-week rotational program designed to recruit talented, emerging investors and help them develop their overall market knowledge and research skills with a focus on manager due diligence. The internship will be composed of the following elements:

Exposure to investing across different markets and selecting best in class portfolio managers and strategies across Fixed Income, US Equity, International Equity, and Alternative Investments

Interns will be asked to creatively evaluate portfolio managers, through analysis of a fund’s team, track record, quantitative risk factors, portfolio characteristics, and underlying holdings.

Opportunity to present analysis and recommendations to senior members of SAI’s investment team

Frequent opportunities to participate in meetings with Fidelity and external portfolio managers

Mentorship and networking opportunities with SAI PMs, Research Analysts, and senior leaders
Training & Mentorship

Emphasis on hands-on training from Research Analysts directly related to intern projects

Opportunity for training in conjunction with investment interns in Equity, High Income, Fixed Income, and Strategic Advisers investment divisions at Fidelity

Mentorship from senior research analysts and associates

Exposure to Portfolio Managers and investment thought leaders
Conversion
Successful interns may receive an offer at the end of the summer internship to return as a full-time Research Associate post-graduation.
