The STNA Weekend Warrior is responsible for providing direct care to residents during weekend shifts in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. This role is ideal for State Tested Nursing Assistants who prefer working weekends and want the flexibility of a weekend-focused position. The STNA Weekend Warrior assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors resident conditions, and ensures residents' comfort and well-being during weekend hours. The STNA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care is delivered.
Key Responsibilities:-
Resident Care:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Help residents with mobility and transfers, including positioning, ambulation, and the use of assistive devices.
- Provide personal care and attention to residents, ensuring their dignity, comfort, and safety.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions to the supervising nurse.

Vital Signs and Monitoring:
- Measure and record residents' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
- Assist with monitoring residents' food and fluid intake, documenting findings accurately.
- Assist with skin care and turning residents to prevent pressure sores and promote comfort.

Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, including ADLs, vital signs, intake/output, and other observations in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff during shift reports, ensuring that resident updates are shared.

Resident Safety and Comfort:
- Ensure that residents' rooms and common areas are clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Follow infection control protocols and facility safety procedures at all times.
- Respond promptly to residents' call lights and requests for assistance, ensuring their needs are met in a timely manner.

Resident Engagement:
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, encouraging social interaction and participation in weekend activities.
- Assist residents in attending scheduled activities or events within the facility during weekends.

Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with RNs, LPNs, and other STNAs to ensure that residents receive comprehensive, coordinated care.
- Assist with weekend admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed, ensuring a smooth transition for residents.
- Participate in care planning and team meetings when required.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification: Current and active State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow care plans as directed by licensed nursing staff.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and care procedures.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred.

Skills Required
