LAUKOA is seeking an experienced Statistician to support the Defense Health Agency's Psychological Health Center of Excellence (PHCoE), located in Silver Spring, MD. This position provides advanced statistical expertise supporting behavioral health research, surveillance, health services research, implementation science, and program evaluation initiatives across the Military Health System.

The successful candidate will develop statistical methodologies, support study design, analyze complex healthcare and behavioral health datasets, and ensure the scientific integrity of research and surveillance products. This role works collaboratively with researchers, epidemiologists, implementation scientists, data analysts, clinicians, and Government stakeholders to generate reliable evidence supporting psychological health programs and military readiness.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide advanced statistical expertise supporting behavioral health research, surveillance, and program evaluation initiatives.
  • Develop statistical analysis plans for research studies, surveillance activities, and program evaluations.
  • Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using large and complex healthcare datasets.
  • Design and evaluate research methodologies to ensure scientific validity and methodological rigor.
  • Support survey design, sampling methodologies, weighting strategies, and statistical analysis of survey data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to identify appropriate statistical methods and analytical approaches.
  • Conduct multivariate analyses, regression modeling, longitudinal analyses, predictive modeling, and other advanced statistical techniques as appropriate.
  • Validate analytical findings and ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and scientific integrity of statistical products.
  • Interpret statistical findings and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop technical reports, statistical summaries, scientific manuscripts, executive briefings, and presentations.
  • Support quality assurance activities related to statistical analyses and research methodology.
  • Assist in the development of performance measures, surveillance indicators, and evaluation metrics.
  • Provide statistical consultation to Government leadership and project teams regarding study design, data interpretation, and analytical best practices.
  • Ensure all statistical analyses comply with accepted scientific standards and contract requirements.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Capability to apply statistical approaches and use specialized statistical software to analyze and model data in an enterprise data environment.
  • Capability to use sophisticated research-supported statistical techniques and write code/syntax to solve complex statistical problems.
  • Capability to propose valid statistical solutions to psychological health research problems based on available data.
  • Capability to present data and interpretations in research reports and briefs.
  • Capability to produce technical artifacts (e.g., reports, tools, briefings, presentations, and manuscripts) consistent with the KSAs described here and with the broader PHCoE mission set.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD) in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 13 years of full-time post-doctoral work experience conducting complex statistical analyses.
  • At least 3 years of full-time post-doctoral experience analyzing and modeling health-related research data.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation and Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Occasional travel may be required in support of contract performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience supporting:
    • Defense Health Agency (DHA)
    • Psychological Health Center of Excellence (PHCoE)
    • Military Health System (MHS)
    • Department of Defense (DoD)
    • Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
    • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
    • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
    • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • Experience supporting behavioral health or psychological health research.
  • Experience with healthcare surveillance and population health analytics.
  • Experience supporting clinical trials, observational studies, or implementation science initiatives.
  • Experience developing survey methodologies and analyzing complex survey data.
  • Experience publishing peer-reviewed scientific research.
  • Knowledge of federal healthcare research and Military Health System data sources.
  • Experience presenting statistical findings to senior leadership and scientific audiences.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000

*This Position is Contingent Upon Award.
