Organization Overview:

Founded in 2004, by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKids KidsCan is a national NGO working in India to address the needs of children with cancer and their families. CanKids is dedicated to driving Change for Childhood Cancer in India with an ambitious goal to achieve Universal health coverage through 100% Access2Care & 100% Financial Protection by 2030 aligned to the WHO GICC (Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer) and Sustainable Development Goals, thereby securing the Rights to health, education, childhood, pain-free and palliative care and the Right to be heard for all children with cancer (0-19 years) in India.

CanKids is the only organization in India working at all levels - grassroots, district, state, and national- and partnering and supporting hospitals, health authorities and professionals for the last 20 years to improve the quality/standard of treatment, care, and other holistic support services. Through its 141 CanKids Hospital Support Unit (CHSU) projects, CanKids ensures access to the best possible care for children with cancer and their families.

Department Overview 

The National Outreach Program (NOP) of CanKids works to enable equitable access to quality treatment and supportive care for children with cancer across India. By collaborating with government stakeholders, hospitals, NGOs, and CSR partners, NOP implements strategic programs like Change for Childhood Cancer (CCC), Home Away from Home (HAH), and Hospital Support Units (CHSUs). The program plays a critical role in expanding pediatric cancer care networks, strengthening hospital systems, and aligning with national and global initiatives on childhood cancer.


Role Overview

 

The State Coordinator is a leadership position responsible for end-to-end program delivery of the CanKids’ National Outreach Program within the assigned state. The role entails oversight of government partnerships, hospital engagements, program implementation, team management, budgeting, and reporting, under the broader Change for Childhood Cancer (CCC) framework. The incumbent will ensure effective delivery of signed MoUs, compliance with program targets, and continuous service expansion for children with cancer and their families.

Key Responsibilities

 

1.      Program Implementation & Oversight

  • Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of all state-level NOP activities.
  • Implement the annual operational plan and budget in alignment with national program goals.
  • Ensure timely and effective delivery on objectives outlined in partner MoUs.
2.      Stakeholder Management & Liaison
  • Serve as the nodal point for government
