Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will
Own and deliver medium-sized quality engineering tasks while mentoring and helping team members in Power System Domain which includes Energy Management Systems, Market Management Systems
Make technology choices at individual level and analyse impact
Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
Integrate project testing with continuous-integration process
Create effective scenarios and tests following best practices like Behavior Driven Development (BDD ) and Test Driven Development (TDD)
Work with fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions
Provide expertise in the quality engineering, test planning and testing methodology for a software project
Develop and executes maintainable automation tests for acceptance, functional, and regression test cases
Test Strategy & Management:
Define and implement the overall testing strategy, frameworks, and best practices to ensure software quality.
Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test automation strategies for complex software solutions.
Oversee functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across multiple projects.
Ensure test environments, data, and tools are effectively managed for smooth test execution.
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, analysts, and testers to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Collaborate with development, product, and business teams to align testing with project goals and timelines.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and proactive issue resolution within the testing team.
Manage test resources, schedules, and risk assessments to ensure timely quality project delivery.
Automation & Performance Testing:
Advocate and implement test automation strategies to increase efficiency and coverage.
Work with DevOps teams to integrate continuous testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Oversee performance, security, and load testing to identify potential system vulnerabilities.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Establish and enforce QA standards, best practices, and compliance guidelines in line with industry benchmarks.
Ensure defect tracking, root cause analysis, and continuous feedback loops are in place.
Provide regular test reports, metrics, and insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in software testing & quality assurance, with at least 5+ years in a lead role.
Strong expertise in test management, automation, and performance testing tools (e.g., Selenium, HP Quick Test Professional, JMeter, LoadRunner, Cypress).
Understand test frameworks, automation techniques, and testing methodologies (Katalon/Selenium)
Java technology background, ability/familiarity to code at least in Core Java
Ability to write scripts (one of bash/ksh, python or groovy)
Experience using CI tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.)
Hands-on experience with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
Understand Jbehave/Cucumber framework, Java languages and different design patterns
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Electrical Utilities industry domain or other regulated industries is a plus.
Certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Level, CSM, SAFe Agile, or PMI-ACP are advantageous.
Exposure to AI-driven testing, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and security testing is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
