Job Description:
As a Staff Software Engineer within Product Engineering, you will act as a senior technical contributor within a frontend domain, owning the design and delivery of complex UI features and subsystems. You will collaborate closely with product management, design, backend, platform, and security teams to build reliable, performant, and secure user experiences that meet product requirements.
In this role, you remain strongly hands-on while influencing technical decisions within your team or product area, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices in frontend development. You are expected to take ownership of non-trivial technical problems, improve system quality, and ensure frontend solutions scale within your domain.
Responsibilities
Design and implement front-end solutions for complex features and subsystems within a product area.
Own and evolve key UI components or modules, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
Collaborate with product, design, backend, and platform teams to deliver well-integrated frontend functionality.
Participate actively in technical design and code reviews, focusing on code quality, performance, accessibility, and security.
Contribute hands-on to feature development, refactoring efforts, and performance improvements.
Apply and reinforce testing practices, secure coding standards, and accessibility guidelines.
Identify and resolve frontend quality issues and security vulnerabilities within owned areas.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
Ensure frontend deliverables meet reliability, usability, and release-quality expectations.
Support sprint execution and release activities for frontend initiatives.
Requirements
7–10 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on frontend development.
Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
Experience building applications using React, Vue.js, or Angular.
Solid understanding of browser fundamentals, rendering behavior, and client-side security.
Experience with component-based architectures and state management libraries.
Hands-on experience integrating with REST APIs and real-time data sources.
Practical experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Familiarity with addressing dependency upgrades, security issues, and production defects.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to make sound technical trade-offs.
Good to Have
Experience owning end-to-end frontend delivery for medium-to-large features.
Exposure to build tooling, bundlers, and performance optimization techniques.
Experience contributing to shared UI components or internal libraries.
Familiarity with front-end monitoring and error tracking tools.
Exposure to accessibility and internationalization requirements.
Experience supporting production releases and post-release issue resolution.
Participation in internal technical discussions or design reviews.
Hands-on experience with AI-first development environments (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and a proven ability to leverage LLMs for rapid prototyping, debugging, and boilerplate reduction while maintaining deep technical oversight.
