We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help us evolve and optimise our large-scale search and analytics platform.
In this role, you will:
- Build and optimize APIs and storage pipelines for high-throughput interactive data processing
- Evolve and maintain distributed, horizontally-scalable infrastructure using Lucene/Solr, Kafka and Postgres
- Design and implement new features that enable clients to extract structured insights from hundreds of millions of documents across diverse data sources
- Drive performance, scalability, cost and reliability improvements in petabyte-scale systems
- Lead design discussions and guide cross-team technical initiatives
- Operate in a hybrid hosting environment (datacentre + cloud), with self-managed infrastructure tuned for our requirements
We are looking for people with:
- 5+ years professional software engineering experience
- Experience building and maintaining distributed systems
- Proven technical leadership (guiding design direction, mentoring peers, and shaping system architecture)
- Good knowledge of search, indexing, and large-scale data processing pipelines
