Cloudera is seeking Staff Software Engineers to accelerate the development of the Cloudera Migration Assistant (CMA), the strategic tool positioned to transform complex big data migrations into a streamlined, assisted, and automated experience.

As a Staff Software Engineer you will:

• Building a Scalable, Future-Proof Platform: Contributing to the evolution of CMA's architecture towards Kubernetes (K8s)-native deployment and enhancing its API-driven design, utilizing the CMA Actions SDK to make migration logic programmatically accessible to other systems.

• Design and working on migration strategies: Implementing key strategic initiatives to bridge legacy systems to modern platforms, including a foundational shift for modernizing storage and workload migration capabilities.

• Infusing Intelligence (Agentic AI): Developing and integrating Agentic migration AI and Agentic refactor AI pillars of the MigrateAI concept. This includes pioneering features like AI-assisted code refactoring for workloads. You will work on robust agentic systems that leverage LLMs and RAG to provide specialized support.

• Engineering Excellence: Working within a forward-thinking quality assurance framework, leveraging advanced tooling like our internal mocking framework for serverless testing and developing systems designed for rapid release cadence and high performance. Exciting opportunity to gain experience working with Hadoop, understand big data use cases at world’s largest deployments of Hadoop. 

• Design and develop software for the easy migration of applications and data. 

• Work with Java, Spring, Angular, Python, Ansible, Kubernetes and related frameworks

• Gain a solid understanding and deep technical knowledge of big data components across the Cloudera stack, which you can utilize in your daily tasks.

We are excited about you if you have (Required Experience):

• 5+ years of experience as a Java Developer, with expertise in Spring Boot and OOP principles

• Experience with cloud platforms (either AWS, Azure or GCP)

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Development experience in Linux environments

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Experience (or demonstrated interest) in distributed computing or high availability systems is a plus.

You might also have:

• Relevant studies / BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience

• Big Data / NoSQL / distributed database experience

• Previous open source contribution

• Understand security principles
