Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop and maintain/improve the features using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.
- Be a role model and provide technical leadership for team to follow design best practice and customer first mindset.
- Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate, and justify the estimate with facts.
- Work in fast paced, agile/scrum development model on cutting edge technologies in delivering integrated software products collaborating with different teams, with a high do/say ratio and uncompromised quality.
- Collaborates with Principal Engineers, cross-functional team architects, to understand their evolving requirements and translates them to architectural runway features and executes them.
- Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation.
- Seek and provide feedback on design and development.
- Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment.
- Understand whole product, its modules, and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module.
- Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing.
- Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designs.
- Be an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices.
- Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision.
- Write code that meets coding & quality standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
- Working with clinical and product marketing personnel to understand user needs, define software requirements, and develop proof of concept solutions.
- Collaborating with verification teams for appropriate testing of features developed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in object-oriented design and programming in a production software environment using Agile development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in Linux based products with C++, Python, embedded Devp and C.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, Design patterns, Algorithms and data structures.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, working with existing, complex code base.
- Proven background as a technical leader for end-to-end systems & experiences.
- Knowledge of Microcontrollers and Microprocessors, Real-time Operating systems.
Desired Characteristics:
- Understanding of medical devices/ medical software development
- Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills
- Self-starter, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with global cross functional teams, flexible to accommodate time zones as required.
- Proven ability to quickly ramp-up on complex and unfamiliar code, and ability to pick up new languages/frameworks as needed.
- Proven knowledge of the Software development lifecycle in product delivery and maintenance.
- Experience leading projects across the product lifecycle – concept creation, new product development, iteration of existing products.
- Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team.
